What does a Secretary earn?

According to Statistics Denmark's latest wage structure survey (2025), average monthly earnings for a Secretary are 48.679 DKK (gross, all sectors). That is close to the national average for all wage earners (approx. 48.000 DKK/month).

There is a pay difference of 9.043 DKK/month between the private and public sector. Private Secretarys earn on average 51.041 DKK/month vs. 41.998 DKK/month in the public sector. The sector you choose can therefore have a major impact on your pay — but remember that public employees typically have better pension terms and greater job security.

This job belongs to clerical and customer service work, where pay largely follows collective-agreement steps and rises with seniority. The range is narrower than in most other job families — the biggest lifts typically come from taking on specialised tasks, system ownership or coordinating roles.
