About the job

Are you passionate about domestic science, teacher education and the development of practice-based teaching? Do you want to train future teachers and help strengthen a subject that connects cooking, health, sustainability, culture and didactics? Then it might be you we are looking for as our new colleague.

At Copenhagen Professions College's (KP) Institute for Teacher Education we are seeking a academically strong and engaged assistant professor or associate professor for a permanent position with teaching in domestic science. We educate teachers who can create strong and relevant teaching in the public school, and we are looking for a colleague who will actively contribute to both the subject and the teacher education's continued development.

We work with a basis in KP’s strategic direction: “Jointly professional subjects that succeed in practice.” This means that our teaching is closely connected to the profession, rests on a solid knowledge base and is developed in a binding collaboration with students, colleagues and schools.

About the job

As an assistant professor or associate professor you will teach, supervise and conduct exams in domestic science on the teacher education program. The teaching connects professional knowledge, practical skills and didactic reflection. You will among other things work with the craft of cooking and gastrophysics, taste and aesthetics, meals, foods, health, sustainability and food culture, as well as with how these areas are translated into investigative and inclusive teaching in schools.

You must be able to plan teaching where students develop both practical skills, professional judgment and didactic action competence. It is essential that you can create clear connections between theory and practice and include current problems and development trends in the subject.

In addition to teaching, the position can include supervision of bachelor projects, teaching in integrated practicum and interdisciplinary courses, as well as tasks within continuing and further education. As a permanent employee you are also expected to contribute to the subject group’s development work, collaboration with practice and, in time, to relevant research and development activities.

About you

We emphasize that you have a strong professional profile and a clearly profession-oriented aim. You have a relevant education at master's level or PhD level and preferably experience with teaching, development work or research within domestic science or related areas.

We imagine that you

  • Have strong subject-specific and didactic competencies within domestic science
  • Can teach in a practice-oriented and investigative manner and create a link between cooking, theory and didactics
  • Have experience with or insight into the teaching profession and the domestic science subject in primary school
  • Can work with central areas such as health, sustainability, foods, meals, food culture, taste and aesthetics
  • Follow the subject’s development and can bring new knowledge, technology and digital possibilities in a meaningful way into teaching
  • Want to collaborate closely with students, colleagues, schools and external partners
  • Contribute constructively to joint planning, knowledge sharing and development of the education

About us

You will become part of the teacher education’s subject group in domestic science. We value a close professional community where we share knowledge, develop teaching together and create coherence across subjects and elements of education. As a new colleague you will be connected to a mentor who will help you get started with the tasks and with life at KP.

At the Institute for Teacher Education we have about 2,300 students and just over 210 staff.

Salary and employment terms

You will be employed as an assistant professor or associate professor with commencement as soon as possible or on 1 December 2026. The position is a part-time role of 30 hours per week.

Employment is regulated by the applicable state sector collective agreement and based on Executive Order no. 414 of 27 April 2025 on the position structure for teachers at business academies, university colleges etc. The specific collective agreement depends on your educational background and will as a rule be under either the Academic Staff Collective Agreement or the Common Agreement for LC and CO10. There will be an opportunity to negotiate qualification allowances.

If you are employed as an assistant professor, you will join KP's lecturer qualification program.

Employment as a associate professor requires a positive associate professor evaluation under the regulation on associate professor qualification, cf. Executive Order no. 413 of 27 April 2025.

Employment as associate professor with the 2013-staff structure will, as a rule, take place at the previously centrally fixed salary and employment terms. Depending on the specific circumstances, a renewed associate professor evaluation under the current staff structure (fast-track scheme) may be agreed.

The workplace is located at Humletorvet 3, 1799 Copenhagen V.
