About the job
Do you have a passion for leadership close to the core task? Can you create direction, wellbeing, and professional quality in a daily life where employees solve complex tasks for children, young people and families? Then you might be our new department head for the Children and Youth Authority in Furesø Municipality.
We are looking for a department head who can be close to both employees and operations, and who is motivated to create the best framework for social workers to succeed in their work. You must be able to combine clear people management with a focus on professional quality, work environment, compliance with laws, and financial responsibility.
You will become part of an engaged leadership team in the child area and will have a central role in the ongoing development of the authority area.
About the position
You will become one of two department heads in the Children and Youth Authority. Together with your lead colleague and three coordinators, you form the immediate leadership of the area. The coordinators play a central role in the professional support of the staff and contribute to quality, coordination and implementation of new workflows. This gives you the opportunity to be close to the employees while also focusing on the overall operations and development of the department.
You will be a visible and approachable leader for 16 social workers and one coordinator, of which six social workers and the coordinator work with disability-compensating services, and 10 social workers work with social cases. You will come to know the daily life of the staff, follow up on the department’s operations and support solving the professional challenges that arise along the way.
Together with lead colleagues across the specialized children’s area and PPR (Pedagogical Psychological Counseling), you will help translate political decisions and strategic goals into concrete actions in practice.
Your main tasks
You will, among other things, be responsible for
- Taking care of people leadership, performance development interviews, sick leave follow-up, recruitment and onboarding.
- Ensuring high professional quality and compliance with laws in the authority’s work.
- Following up on case load, task distribution, priorities, and the department’s overall capacity.
- Supporting staff through professional sparring on complex cases.
- Ensuring implementation and anchoring of new workflows, methods, and decisions.
- Contributing to sustainable finances through follow-up on actions and dispositions.
- Supporting the development of management information and data foundations.
- Ensuring a good working environment and strong professional communities.
- Strengthening collaboration with Family House, PPR, schools, day care and other partners.
- Actively contributing to the overall leadership task in the children’s area.
The Children’s area is currently focused on
- Strengthening the holistic approach and cooperation with schools and day care.
- Developing the internal service range and creating more sustainable solutions close to the child’s everyday life.
- Ensuring high quality in the authority’s work, including involvement of children and families.
- Strengthening the governance framework through better management information, financial overview and follow-up.
- Further developing workflows and ensuring consistent practice.
- Creating good conditions for wellbeing, work environment and professional development.
We are looking for a leader who
- Has a relevant social science education.
- Has experience from the specialized children and youth area and in-depth knowledge of the authority’s work.
- Has leadership experience or a clear leadership talent who wants to lead personnel.
- Thrives being close to staff and daily operations.
- Has a sense of the connection between professional quality, legislation, economy and the work environment.
- Can create structure, direction and prioritization in a busy daily life.
- Is clear in expectations and at the same time trusting and involved in leadership style.
- Can motivate and develop employees through dialogue, sparring and feedback.
- Is a strong partner across professional areas and management levels.
- Has good organizational understanding and can translate decisions into action in practice.
We offer
