About the job

Since our skilled head of department for Special Center East has sought new challenges and has been offered a leadership job at a larger special unit, we are seeking a department head who will take up the position on January 1, 2027.

Are you strong in special educational practice, positive and present, and would you like to have a key position at Spjald School? Then read on.

At Spjald School the leadership team is action-oriented and has high ambitions. We focus on the core task and go all out to give students the desire and courage to learn, so they move on in life with the best possible conditions. It means everything to us that students and staff thrive in the school, so they have the capacity to receive and give learning.

Spjald School is located close to forest, a stream, and a nature trail and only a few meters from the Sports Centre with a swimming pool. The school has large bright classrooms, cozy common areas and a staff room, where we all strive to come daily because it is rewarding to be together with nice and funny colleagues.

We have a well-functioning school with highly engaged and development-oriented staff. A school with extensive self-management and a staff with a wide age mix. We have a strong community and an informal tone in a lively environment with many happy children and colleagues.

We have a parent group that is interested in their children's well-being and development.

Special Center has 45 students. The offering is for students in the age range 0-10 with special needs to such a degree that they cannot follow ordinary teaching at a district school in Ringkøbing-Skjern Municipality. We have ongoing admissions via a visitation committee from the municipality's general schools, just as we have a tradition for close collaboration regarding reintegration back to the main school. Instruction is in the standard subjects of the public school supplemented with more hours for activities and practical subjects.

Pedagogical initiatives are qualified in close dialogue with PPR.

Common for the students in the special center is that they need a clear and structured learning environment that can accommodate the individual pupil's personal, social, and academic development. We strive for a strongly inclusive learning environment, and it is therefore crucial that the students in Special Center East function in interaction with the school’s other students.

The staff in the center consists of both pedagogues and teachers who collaborate on the students' everyday life.

We would like you to

  • have a strong special educational profile and be able to develop and ensure the quality of the pedagogical work
  • can support a highly specialized learning environment with the students' learning, well-being and personal development at the center
  • be interested in both staff leadership and administrative leadership
  • be proactive, have an overview, and the ability to inspire and engage people around you
  • be a pedagogical role model with a desire for teaching tasks

Spjald School has 320 students and a general school staff of about 40 employees and at Special Center East about 10 employees. The school is attached to a before/after-school program (SFO) and a club offer. Spjald Kindergarten and the town's day care providers are also part of the Whole at Spjald School.

The leadership team, in addition to the principal and deputy principal, consists of a head of SFO and Club and a head of Spjald Kindergarten/daycare.

Salary and terms of employment according to the applicable collective agreement.
