A bit about the Ærø Hospital Unit

The Ærø Hospital Unit is beautifully located in picturesque surroundings in Ærøskøbing close to the harbor with good ferries to Svendborg. Ærø lies in the middle of the South Funen Archipelago, here there are ample opportunities for hobbies such as sailing, kayaking and golf.

The Ærø Hospital Unit has 9 beds including 1 telemedicine hospice bed, an outpatient clinic, emergency department/ reception, laboratory, radiology department, on-call medical service, as well as several regional, municipal & private partners very close by.

From January 1, 2027, 4 new health and care places will also be established, just as regional emergency nursing care will also be carried out by nurses employed at the hospital.

The Ærø Hospital Unit serves the island's almost 6,000 residents as well as the approximately 300,000 tourists who visit the island annually. The staff are trained in trauma reception, cardiac arrest treatment, acute medical treatment, treatment of chronic diseases and end-of-life care.

The hospital has annually about 900 inpatient admissions and about 2,000 outpatient treatments.
