About the job

Would you like to help shape the future for hematology patients at Sygehus Lillebælt, Vejle Hospital – a hospital where we put the patient first? Then we would love to hear from you.

You now have the chance to become part of the Hematology Inpatient Ward. We are seeking, as of December 1, 2026, a professionally skilled nurse with motivation and energy to contribute to our shared core task.

The position is basically full-time, but if you prefer part-time employment, this can also be arranged. You will quickly broaden your area of expertise within a large professional field after thorough training – so do not let this opportunity pass you by.

In the long run you are also expected to have working hours in our outpatient clinic.

Presentation.

The Hematology Ward is located at Vejle Hospital and is part of a broad Medical Department with special tasks within cancer and public health areas. In addition to a inpatient ward, the Hematology Ward comprises a research unit with 5 project nurses and an outpatient clinic with 17 nurses.

It is a strong and research-oriented hematology section with close interdisciplinary collaboration between the medical team, project nurses, bioanalysts, laboratory specialists, and the hospital pharmacy.

The Hematology Inpatient Ward has 8 beds. The department handles short, acute, and longer-lasting cases – including open admissions. The hematological diseases cover serious cancer conditions such as myelomatosis, chronic leukemia, and malignant lymphoma.

In addition, the department has patients admitted with general medical diseases.

The patient pathways in the inpatient ward can be long and complex, which requires a high level of professional knowledge in clinical, educational, social, and psychological areas. The nursing in the inpatient ward is organized around a primary nurse scheme, and there is close interdisciplinary cooperation with, among others, doctors, bioanalysts, and physiotherapists.

You have great potential to influence your work schedule. We normally operate in 2-shift systems and every 3rd weekend.

We work based on the core value , the patient first , and we continually strive to excel in excellent nursing and joint decision-making.

We are looking for you

Who wants to work with people affected by cancer, where communication, empathy, and spiritual care are important dimensions of nursing.

Who is able to prioritize tasks with a view to patient safety and is adaptable in acute situations.

Who wants to become proficient in the hematology specialty.

Who has an open and positive attitude to the work.

Who can and will contribute to nursing professional and personal development, as well as a good working environment.

Preferably with knowledge of hematology and medical cancer treatment, but this is not a must.

We offer

Thorough training by engaged and experienced staff who are flexible and focused on developing nursing to benefit and delight the patient. We offer a superb working environment with high job satisfaction, collegial care and humor. There is extremely high patient satisfaction and equally high staff satisfaction!

We offer education in various topics, and currently the department’s focus areas are: Shared Decision-Making, Excellent Nursing, Hematology School “Know Your Hem”, Medical School, board meetings based on improvement work, and palliative care. There are good opportunities for professional and personal development.
