About the job
Do you want to work with sick-listed citizens and help find solutions together with both the citizen and the workplace?
And are you motivated by finding solutions through collaboration between the citizen and the workplace, where it can sometimes be difficult?
Then you may be the colleague we are looking for to the sickness benefits department at the Job Center Svendborg, with start as soon as possible or 1 December 2026.
About us and our organization
In Svendborg Municipality we believe there is room for more in the labor market. In the sickness benefits area our primary task is to support self-sufficiency, ordinary salary hours, retention and partial return to work. We believe that everyone can contribute something and become part of the community, and we strengthen the citizen's belief in their own abilities and possibilities through an empowerment of the citizen's action competence. We work from our mission to help citizens into work or to retain employment, while ensuring that companies get the skilled labor they need.
We are one consolidated department in the sickness benefits area, led jointly by two department heads and two professional coordinators. The unit is divided into two tracks depending on case complexity:
- Company track: Focus on early clarification, rapid progression, retention plans, and close contact with companies for citizens with shorter or uncomplicated cases.
- Citizen track: Focus on the more complex and/or longer-lasting cases, where there is a need for interdisciplinary effort, closer coordination, and maintenance of professional direction toward the labor market.
The department is currently undergoing a upskilling program in the metacognitive method, of which you will also be a part.
Your role and why it is important
With your main focus in the citizen track you will particularly work with citizens with more complex or longer-lasting illness trajectories, where the goal remains a return to the labor market. At the same time we have an important intake task, where you help assess which track the individual citizen should follow.
You are not just a caseworker – you are
- the one who creates direction in an unresolved case
- the one who helps the sick-listed person see the possibilities when it is hard
- the one who together with the whole team ensures bridging and dialogue with the workplaces when it is relevant
What your day looks like
Coordinate collaboration with doctors, health services, the social department, and other relevant partners. Ensure coherence and clear direction in the citizen's process.
Create frameworks for network and round-table discussions when it is considered relevant to support progression, clarify possibilities, and create a shared understanding. Prepare and present cases to the Recommendation Team, where a decision must be made on possibilities for a flex job or early retirement.
We are looking for you who…
You do not need to know everything from the start, but we value that you as a person and professional can balance the relational and the authoritative aspects.
Professional
- You have a relevant social work background
- You have experience from the employment sector or are eager to learn it
- You can work in a structured way and have an eye for both professionalism and legislation
- You can express yourself clearly both in writing and in conversations
- You have a driving license (Category B)
As a person
- You are good at building relationships and trust
- You dare to take responsibility and set direction, even when it is difficult
- You see possibilities and work job-focused
- You thrive with variation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and switching between tasks
- You actively contribute to the team’s sense of community – both professionally and personally
With us you get…
- A job where you can make a real difference
- A daily life with both people, cross-functional collaboration, and professional assessments
- A close and supportive department across tracks, where we help each other succeed
- Opportunities for professional development and sparring
- A workplace with room for humor, honesty, and diversity
- Flexibility and the possibility of remote work
