In Lyngby-Taarbæk Municipality, we have gathered the social efforts into a single center. The Center for Social Intervention spans from children and youth to adults and includes both authority and service offers. It gives the center chief a broad leadership task and a special opportunity to create coherence for citizens across age, disciplines and services.

The social domain is also an area with increasing complexity and significant financial pressure. In recent years, a lot has been in motion. The organization has changed, new offerings have been established, and authorities and providers have moved closer together in several places. Some things work well. Others need to be strengthened or thought differently. In the specialized children’s area, an important rebuild is already underway, while other parts of the center stand in a more stable place.

As center chief you therefore must not start from scratch. You must be able to see what works, hold on to it and bring more of what has already been started all the way to completion. You must set a direction for competent center leadership and strong professional expertise, create calm around what matters and at the same time act when something does not function well. You must be able to get close to the professional work without taking over and have stamina for the tasks where results are created over time.

A substantial part of the task also extends beyond the Center for Social Intervention. Citizens’ lives do not follow the municipality’s organization, and several of the solutions that must succeed cross, among other things, the social domain, children and youth, employment and health. You must therefore both be able to gather your own center and open the door outward. It requires a sense of the whole and the ability to create shared responsibility, even when disciplines, interests and organizational considerations do not point in the same direction.

There is also a lot to accomplish as a new center chief. You will have a broad social-professional portfolio, where authority and services are gathered, and where there is real opportunity to create more coherence for citizens. You enter a center leadership with strong collegiality, professionalism and a desire to succeed together and become part of a group of center chiefs who help each other and want more across. And you will have a director close at hand, who knows the area, supports you and gives room for leadership. There is much to build on, but also good space to make your mark.

The position is for you who have ambitions on behalf of the area and citizens and are willing to stand at the front when required. Who can create calm without standing still, set a direction without making everything your own and get people and professions to succeed together.
