About the job

Would you lead an ambitious housing-social initiative that creates better life chances, stronger communities, and positive development in Fredericia's public housing areas? In Fredericia, we want to continue a broad and long-term housing-social collaboration and create positive community development through initiatives that bring the city's residents closer to education, employment and strong social communities.

We are therefore seeking a strong and trust-building project director who can set direction, create momentum and bring people and organizations together around a common effort. You will play a central role in both the conclusion of the current holistic plan and the preparation of a new planning period.

About the position As project director you will be responsible for the Citywide Housing-Social Comprehensive Plan, which comprises 46 public housing estates across Fredericia. You join an established collaboration with staff and local structures in place.

The four central focus areas of the holistic plan are

  • Education and life chances
  • Employment
  • Crime prevention
  • Social cohesion and citizenship

The initiatives are developed and implemented across the housing areas in close cooperation with the municipality, housing organizations, associations, business community, police, volunteers and residents.

As project director you must ensure that the holistic plan's initiatives have clear direction and progress, and that results, experiences and learning are followed up, documented and translated into anchoring or responsible termination.

Front figure with a sense for strategy, project management and collaboration The project director leads the area secretariat and reports to the holistic plan's board, which consists of representatives from Fredericia Municipality, boli.nu, Boligkontoret Fredericia and the business sector.

You will be the link between the board, staff and the many partners. An important part of the role is therefore to translate strategic and political goals into clear priorities, concrete activities and measurable results.

Your main areas of responsibility will be to

  • set the direction for the holistic plan and ensure progress in projects and initiatives
  • lead, advise and develop the area secretariat's staff
  • ensure solid financial management, prioritization of resources and ongoing follow-up
  • deliver documentation, evaluation and reporting to the board and grant providers
  • prepare briefs and analyses that create an overview of results, challenges, development and deviations
  • maintain and develop collaboration with the municipality, housing organizations, resident democracy and other actors
  • support methodological development and ensure that effective interventions are anchored
  • be visible in the housing areas and communicate about the progression and results of the initiatives.

A clear and inclusive leader You will lead a team of autonomous and dedicated staff in the area secretariat, who work closely with, among others, municipal staff, neighborhood outreach and youth initiatives, mentors, counselors, volunteers and external partners.

Your task is to create a common direction and clear frameworks, while giving staff room for professional independence. You should be able to prioritize and follow up, but also delegate, support and develop the staff.

Formal line management responsibility is an advantage, but the crucial thing is that you have experience leading complex tasks and collaborations and can step clearly into the leadership space.

Who are you? Your educational background may vary. You likely have a relevant higher education with a background in social work, pedagogy, social sciences, organizational studies or management.

The most important thing is that you have solid project management experience and previously have created direction, structure and momentum in complex projects, programs or organizational initiatives with many stakeholders.

We also place emphasis on that you have

  • experience with financial management and resource prioritization
  • experience with follow-up, evaluation, documentation and reporting
  • insight into preventive work and a usable toolbox of methodologies
  • experience with cross-sector collaboration across organizations, fields and levels of decision-making
  • strong written and oral communication skills
  • the ability to translate complex issues into clear briefs, analyses and decision bases

Familiarity with housing-social work, municipal organizations or other welfare areas is a clear advantage.

Trust-building, structured and persistent As a person you are relational and trust-building and can create strong connections to residents, staff, management and collaborators. You are clear and inclusive: You set direction and make decisions, but are also curious about others' perspectives.

You have political acumen and a good understanding of organizations and can navigate constructively between different interests, professional areas and considerations. At the same time you are development-oriented and dare to try new methods and learn from the results.

We are looking for a visible and down-to-earth project director with humor and human warmth – a person who thrives both in the boardroom and out in the housing areas, and who is motivated by working for people, with people and through people.
