About the job

Are you passionate about government work, and would you like to make a difference in Copenhagen?

Do you have strong communication skills, and can you communicate professional content in a clear and understandable way both in writing and speaking?

Then you may be our new colleague in Case Closure – a part of the Building Department (OBY) under the Building, Parking and Environment Authority (BPM).

About us

We are responsible for the final processing of all of Copenhagen's building cases – large and small. We ensure that work is carried out in accordance with building permits and applicable legislation, and we also carry out the supervisory role and help ensure that illegal construction is brought into compliance physically.

The job – your tasks

With us you will become part of a team responsible for a varied case portfolio within both large and smaller building cases. Your daily routine will consist of

  • advising private citizens and professional advisors on closing their building cases, e.g. new construction, alterations and extensions, balconies, single-family houses as well as commercial and residential construction
  • reviewing completion notifications and issuing both occupancy permits and temporary occupancy permits, so that buildings can be safely and legally used
  • handling complaints about unlawful conditions, including fire hazards and health hazards as well as other issues requiring legalisation
  • conducting random checks, where you perform technical case handling and assess whether the construction complies with legislation and permits
  • participating in the customer service desks, where you guide citizens about their building cases and the legislation.

In some cases, tasks will involve on-site inspections in the city. You will therefore have the opportunity to use your professional expertise both at the office and in the field – and to work closely with colleagues and partners across the administration.

You will receive thorough onboarding from both your team and other colleagues, so you are well prepared for the tasks and the systems we work with.

Who are you?

We are looking for someone who

  • has a relevant professional background, e.g. as a building constructor, engineer, architect or equivalent
  • communicates clearly and approachable – both in writing and orally
  • wants to make complex professional material understandable for both citizens and professionals
  • works in a structured way, takes responsibility and can switch between different types of tasks
  • is solution-oriented, has a sense of situations and can balance dialogue and enforcement
  • is committed, adaptable to change and a team player who contributes to a good atmosphere and helps when needed.

Knowledge of the Building Regulations, the Building Act and the Planning Act is an advantage, but not a requirement.

We offer

  • a busy and attractive workplace with flexible working hours and the possibility of remote work
  • an informal and strong professional environment with skilled colleagues and mutual learning across
  • cooperation with both internal and external actors to create the best Copenhagen
  • opportunity for personal and professional development and deep insight into building legislation and government work
  • 37-hour work week including a flexitime scheme.

Salary and terms of employment

We aim to fill the position as soon as possible, but no later than 1 January 2027. Working hours are on average 37 hours per week. Salary and terms of employment are in accordance with the applicable collective agreement. Depending on your qualifications, additional allowances can be negotiated in collaboration with the trade organization within the framework of local pay formation. We also offer an attractive pension scheme.
