About the job

Are you passionate about leadership, high professional standards, and the development of cardiac nursing – and do you want to lead a highly motivated staff team where the foundation is ”patient first” ?

Then you may be our new Chief Nurse on Ward B4, Cardiology Department B, OUH.

About the department

Cardiology Department B, OUH, is among the three largest highly specialized heart departments in Denmark. The department consists of:

  • Two ward units (B3 and B4)
  • A cardiology laboratory with an accompanying day department
  • A large outpatient clinic with several highly specialized clinics

Acute cardiological patients are admitted to the cardiology laboratory and to FAM’s heart zone.

We are a large, well‑reputed department that is strong both in research and clinically. We work purposefully with care, investigation and treatment of patients with or suspected of heart disease – including the common, the rare, the chronic, the highly specialized, and the life‑threatening.

About Ward B4 – who are we?

At B4 the nursing staff primarily provide care and treatment for patients with

  • Ischemic heart disease
  • Arrhythmias, including serious heart rhythm disturbances and cardiac arrest
  • Unstable or rapid heart rhythms
  • ACS or suspected ACS
  • Pulmonary embolisms, etc.

We are an engaged and dedicated staff group that

  • Always puts the patient with heart disease first
  • Systematically works to develop and improve patient pathways
  • Has a strong focus on patient safety
  • Actively involves patients and relatives

Your role as Chief Nurse

As Chief Nurse at B4 you will have a central leadership responsibility in a complex and academically strong department.

  • Daily personnel management of the ward
  • Operations and development of the ward in close collaboration with the attached responsible consultant
  • Coordination and collaboration with the other wards and senior colleagues in the Cardiology Department
  • To ensure high quality in care and treatment and ongoing development of cardiac nursing

We offer you

  • Thorough introduction and training for leadership, operations and clinical tasks
  • Leadership of a very engaged staff group that prioritizes good and specialized nursing
  • Close partnership with the responsible consultant in the area
  • A good working environment where we have recognized that progress is achieved through collaboration
  • Employment in a department with high ambitions for patients, relatives and volunteers
  • A strong multidisciplinary leadership team actively working on improvement efforts on the way to the new OUH
  • Priority given to competence development and development opportunities for all staff groups
  • Strong professional anchoring of the leadership work among colleagues in the leadership group and in the nursing leadership

We wish that you

  • Lead by example and be a clear role model
  • Can create structure in an unpredictable daily life
  • Find it attractive to try new paths and test new ways of working
  • Communicate openly and trustfully
  • Are appreciative and present in your leadership style
  • Thrive both in mono- and cross-disciplinary collaboration
  • Contribute actively to a good interdisciplinary working environment
  • Can establish stable and flexible collaborative relations – both internally and externally
  • Have experience with leadership and relevant leadership education at master’s or doctoral level – or are prepared to undertake it
  • Have clinical experience from cardiology
