With us we work together to create the best solutions for children, youths and families in Herlev Municipality.

About us

In the Child and Youth Counseling, we strive for management to be closer in daily life. Three team leaders handle the professional and personnel management of the advisors, which ensures presence, sparring and focus on well-being. The overall management is handled by the head of the authority and practice area in Herlev Municipality, so there is a clear direction and a cohesive effort across the entire area.

We are based at the Hjortespring Town Hall and organized into district-based teams with Herlev's five public schools as a starting point. This organization gives us close cooperation with schools and day care and creates good opportunities for an early, holistic and coherent effort for the children, the youths and their families.

We work with children and youths aged 0-23 and focus on finding the best solutions in close cooperation with the child or young person, the family and our interdisciplinary partners. We emphasize involving the family's perspectives and resources as well as creating initiatives that make sense and make a positive difference in everyday life.

As a child and youth advisor, you will become part of a district-based team where we prioritize professional sparring, shared reflection and close cross-disciplinary collaboration. We believe that the best solutions are created when we bring our different professional backgrounds into play and work together to support the well-being, development and opportunities for children and youths.

In the Child and Youth Counseling, 19 district advisors work with interventions for children and youths in vulnerable positions as well as for children and youths with challenges and reduced well-being. Two process leaders support holistic processes across departments, while the four counselors in specialized advisory handle cases concerning handicap-compensating benefits for parents with children with permanently reduced functional ability.

Our reception consists of 4 advisors who handle acute cases, conduct screening and 24-hour assessments. In addition, we have two family foster consultants who work with children and youths in support stays or foster families, an STU coordinator who assesses youths for specially arranged education, and three administrative staff who support case processing.

The three team leaders work closely with the department head and ensure that the quality of our work is high and that we continually develop professionally.
