About us

We are about 85 happy, highly capable and engaged employees in the Family Department, focusing on a good atmosphere in daily life. We get along well and value good collegiality. We are professionally ambitious, but we are also very good at supporting each other.

Our focus is on creating a balance between stable, law-abiding operation AND development of the operation. We also value being a professionally well-functioning department with room for diversity.

In Family Team North we are 15 social workers and a team leader. We handle case management when a decision has been made on a supportive intervention in the family. We prepare child-related investigations, conduct follow-ups on interventions, and also prepare recommendations to the Children and Youth Committee in cases of placement without consent. Therefore a high degree of systematicity and structure is expected in daily work.

We have a special task of involving the child’s perspective in the most gentle way, while as quickly as possible clarifying the necessary support level.

As a advisor in a Family Team you will join a team where we offer each other close professional sparring and collegial support in the very diverse tasks we navigate.

In Family Team Handicap we are about 20 social workers distributed in a Reception and a Family Team, a professional coordinator and a team leader. We have a particular focus on the holistic, social-work-oriented approach to cases. We want to emphasize that all children should have the opportunity for a good childhood and youth, despite disabilities. In addition, we work systematically with quality assurance of legally well-founded decisions according to §§ 86 and 87 of the Child Act.

Additionally, we have a particular focus on empowering and coordinating the transition from child to adult, where we participate in close, cross-disciplinary collaboration with the Social Department, the Job Center and UU regarding the young person.

We also have a pronounced focus on involving the child in their own case – particularly those children who may have difficulty expressing themselves due to disabilities. It is very important to us that these children have a voice in their own life.

Common for the entire department is that we focus on strengthened involvement of the children’s perspectives in cases, and that we insist on close cooperation with our closest collaborators, including Viborg Family Center, as well as Døgn and Aflastning, Health Visitor Service, PPL, schools and kindergartens.

There is a values-based leadership practiced throughout Viborg Municipality, which provides room for maneuver within the applicable frameworks. These are outlined, among other places, in our competency plan.

Physically we are housed at Viborg City Hall, which with its interior arrangement greatly supports cross-department collaboration and creative solutions to benefit our citizens. The interdisciplinary collaboration is a natural part of daily life in the Family Department.
