Consultant sought for Neurology Department, Aalborg University Hospital

A departmental physician position is available for occupancy as of 1 December 2026 or by further agreement.

The position is to be filled by a consultant in neurology - preferably with a particular interest in neuromuscular diseases and the stroke area.

Who are we?

The department, which is a university department, is the region's only neurological department. It consists of an general neurological ward (classic neurology) with 11 beds, a stroke ward with 19 beds, a neurophysiology section and 15 subspecialty outpatient clinics.

The Neurological Department is currently staffed with 6 senior consultants, of whom 2 are professors, 10 consultants, 12 department physicians and 29 resident doctors. The department leadership is composed of a chief physician, two head nurses and a health administrative chief. The neuromuscular outpatient clinic currently consists of 1 consultant, 2 department physicians, 2 nurses and 1 medical secretary.

Who are you?

The position is to be filled by a consultant in neurology. On the basis of the application and CV, this person should document interest and qualifications to participate in the operation and further development of the neuromuscular area and, to a lesser extent, the stroke area.

Applicants must be a neurology consultant with substantial clinical experience and also preferably research experience. Organizational experience, e.g. in the form of patient pathways, professional networks etc., and experience in postgraduate teaching are desirable. Good collaboration and communication skills are required.

It is expected that the successful applicant will contribute to the ongoing development of the areas through continuing education, teaching, research and organization together with the other specialists in the areas.

As a departmental physician, you are contractually entitled to at least 10 continuing education days per year and, as a special arrangement in the North Jutland Region, a personal course budget of about DKK 27,500 per year.

Terms

Employment at the department is in accordance with the agreement between Danske Regioner and the Association of Specialist Doctors.

There is a on-call/backup duty attached to the position (on-site ward duty for department physicians). The on-call team consists of contractually employed consultants, department physicians and 1st-year resident doctors. As part of the department's round-the-clock thrombolysis and EVT treatment of ischemic stroke, the on-call doctor must attend for thrombolysis treatment.

The applicant will participate in the on-call shift depending on qualifications.

The department participates in teaching medical students from Aalborg University, teaching KBU doctors, introductory neurologists and doctors in the main training positions in neurology as well as doctors in main training positions within psychiatry and neurosurgery.

The professional assessment of the applicant will be based on the applicant's information about their own competencies within each of the seven competence areas corresponding to the seven roles in the specialist medical order.
