Being a day carer is a job where you

• Work with 4 children and at times a maximum of 5 children in your own home.
• You can plan your day yourself. Most days it is you who decides how the day should look: should you go on a trip, to the garden, cozy/ play indoors, bake buns? You decide based on what the children are ready for on the given day.
• Make a difference for the youngest children. You can be the adult who means something special to the child, and you can be the one who advises and supports the parents.
• Create safe settings and close relationships with small children. With a fixed group of 4 children every day you build a strong bond with each child.
• May have your own child under 3 years old at home in your own day care. If you have young children, or plan another child, you can choose to have your own child at home until it turns 3. Your own child then counts as one of your total 4 children.

You are never alone

• You join a professional day carer team with your colleagues. Day carers have strong communities with other day carers. You will have fixed colleagues you meet with, both in the playroom but also on the playground, in the garden and on the walk.
• The day carer consultant is close by, and provides supervision and individual sparring. We are at most a phone call away from you, and come out to you to look at the children's well-being and support you in your work.
• You are supported by the daycare's resource team, with a resource pedagogue, family pedagogue and a “flyer pedagogue” who steps in and collaborates with you if you have children with special needs or need extra sparring for the child group.
• You go to full-day play school together with your colleagues and participate in common activities.
• In our daycare you are offered an introductory program focused on the day care profession and our municipal procedures.

You can try whether the pedagogical work is for you

• There is the possibility to become an educational assistant (earliest after 2 years of employment)

It is also possible to apply as a couple who want to work together as a double day care with 8 children in their own home. We already have several men employed as day carers, and several double day carers, with whom you or you as a couple can share.
