About the job
Would you like to help illuminate some of society's most important issues, and would you like to strengthen your skills in econometric analyses? Then we can offer you an educational student position in a strong academic analytical environment at Copenhagen City Hall.
Copenhagen should be a good city to live in for everyone. With 670,000 inhabitants, Copenhagen hosts more than 10 percent of Denmark's total population, and the city is also among the fastest growing in the country. This places increasing demands on city politicians to make decisions on an academically informed basis. The Office for Analysis and Climate works to provide precisely that.
We are seeking a student assistant who will contribute to analyses that illuminate current issues across a broad range of welfare areas (e.g., child, school, social, and employment areas). You will contribute to analyses that answer questions such as:
- What type of housing should we build in Copenhagen so that the housing stock matches the city's demographic development?
- How can the City of Copenhagen address challenges with workforce shortages in welfare areas?
- Does the City of Copenhagen have more or fewer residents in care homes and other social interventions than the population composition would suggest?
- Which factors influence student absence among children in Copenhagen's primary schools?
- How can AI and language models support the office's analytical work?
You, as a student, will contribute to both larger and smaller analyses, particularly with data processing, coding, and analysis.
Your profile
The position requires that you have completed the first years of your studies, and the position is also relevant if you have already started your master's degree. We emphasize that you
- Are studying a social science program such as social data science, economics, political science, or sociology and have completed coursework in statistical methods
- Have strong competencies and a keen interest in econometric analyses
- Have experience coding in SAS, R, STATA or similar programming languages
- Are thorough and detail-oriented
- Are good at collaborating and want to join a professional and socially collegial community
It is an advantage, but not a requirement, if you have experience with language models or the use of AI in analytical work.
As a student assistant in the Office for Analysis and Climate you will, among other things, work with register data from Statistics Denmark, and a portion of the work will involve data processing in SAS or other programming languages and presenting analysis results in Excel and PowerPoint. We typically work in project teams, but there will also be some operational tasks as well as ad hoc tasks.
We offer
The Office for Analysis and Climate is part of the Finance Administration at Copenhagen City Hall. In the office you will have about 20 helpful and fun colleagues who are among the country’s leading analysts in register-based analyses. Our analyses are prepared in small teams in the office in close collaboration with the other administrations.
You will become part of the office's total of three students, and you will have good opportunities to develop yourself personally and professionally. At the same time, you will be part of a workplace where we place emphasis on a good social environment.
Employment terms
We offer salary and employment terms in accordance with the applicable collective agreement. Working hours are around 15 hours per week on average. Work days are agreed. We are generally flexible and we of course take exam periods into account. The working language is Danish. Start as soon as possible, e.g., by 1 November 2026.
