Workplace

Do you want to work with data in a domain where the requirements for accuracy, traceability and security are significantly higher than in most others?
About the job
The legal industry is changing. Data and technology are no longer something that sits next to the business - they are an integrated part of the strategy and the way we develop our advisory, workflows and organization.
Therefore we are looking for a Data Scientist who will help translate large, unstructured document volumes into data that lawyers can work with. You will become part of our Legal Tech Operations department and take an active role in the data foundation our solutions and cases are built on - from data collection and preparation to analysis and quality assurance.
We are looking for a student with a solid foundation in data analysis, statistics and an interest in programming. You don’t need to know everything from day one. If you have the right starting point and the right curiosity, thoroughness and drive, we would love to hear from you.
About Legal Tech Operations
Legal Tech Operations is a small, technically strong team of engineers, data scientists and economists who support and develop solutions for Bech-Bruun's legal departments. We often work closely with lawyers on concrete cases with extensive document volumes, including eDiscovery and digital forensics.
Examples of the work we do
- Processing data rooms and case materials on tens of thousands of pages through parsing, OCR, deduplication and structuring, so we can identify relevant documents and risks faster.
- Building and maintaining structured datasets over documents, clauses and previously identified legal findings.
- Analysis of large data sets in eDiscovery cases, where patterns, timelines and relationships need to be found in emails, documents, system data and financial data.
- Quality measurement of our pipelines and models through golden datasets, sampling and systematic evaluation.
- Reporting and visualization that provide an overview of data in a case or across cases.
About the role
As a Data Scientist you work with data all the way from raw documents to analyses and datasets that the team builds on. It is a practical role where you get real data, real cases and responsibility for concrete tasks.
Depending on your profile and the current cases you will among other things work with
- Data collection and preparation: Extraction, cleaning, deduplication and structuring of large, heterogeneous document sets
- Data processing in Python
- Analysis and statistics Exploratory analysis, pattern recognition and sample-based quality controls on case data and on output from our systems.
- Data quality and evaluation: Building golden datasets, annotation and measuring precision and coverage in our parsing, search and classification solutions.
- Reporting and visualization
You will receive responsibility early, but you will not be alone. Method choices, data models and results are discussed continuously with the team’s engineers and data scientists, and you will receive ongoing sparring on your work.
Your profile
We are looking for someone who is currently pursuing a relevant education - for example in data science, economics, statistics, mathematics, computer science or similar - and has at least 2 years left of your studies. You want to apply your professional tools to real problems in an organization with high quality requirements.
The most important is that you
- can work with data and have basic knowledge of Python.
- have a solid foundation in statistics and data analysis and can communicate your results clearly.
- work systematically, structured and with attention to detail - small errors in data can have large consequences in a case.
- can handle confidential information responsibly.
- can work professionally in Danish and English.
Study projects, personal data projects and relevant professional experience are all interesting. Knowledge of Git, or Docker is a plus, but not a requirement.
Practical
The position is a student position of approximately 15-20 hours per week with flexible scheduling around your studies, including during exam periods. You will work from our office in Copenhagen.
Why you should apply
At Bech-Bruun you will become part of an organization with high professional ambitions, strong specialists and complex legal issues. Quality and thoroughness are crucial in the advisory work, and the same applies to the data work we deliver.
You will have the opportunity to work with real data from real cases and see your analyses used by the lawyers in practice. Because you work closely with them, you will receive direct feedback and an understanding of how data creates value in legal advisory.
Data and technology are a strategically prioritized area at Bech-Bruun. The team has access to the necessary cloud resources, tools and legal specialists, and there is a short path from an idea to testing on a real problem. At the same time you will be part of an environment where you can develop as a data scientist through responsibility, professional sparring and challenges that place high demands on method, precision and business understanding.
In other words, you will get a student position where your data work has a clear role in the ongoing development of the legal advisory.
If you have questions about the position, you are welcome to contact Senior Legal Tech Operations Manager Jonas William Abbotts at telephone 25 26 35 95.
The application deadline is 19 October 2026.
