Even though they are few in Denmark, they are not small. From Scandinavia they handle projects including port facilities, bridges and foundations across the entire Baltic Sea region in collaboration with Depenbrock Ingenieurwasserbau, which is their sister company.

The German contracting company has more than 90 years of experience advising, managing and carrying out the full range of water construction projects – from quay facilities, dry docks, ferry piers and locks to sheet piling, piping and the construction of foundations for bridges, protective works and breakwaters.

Depenbrock Group, which today is one of the region’s leading industrial conglomerates, traces its origins to Ostwestfalen-Lippe in Germany. It was here that Karl Depenbrock founded a transport company with horse and wagon in 1928. The company remains family-owned, today by the third and fourth generation, and over the years the transport business has grown into a contractor operating across Europe with about 1,400 employees and a turnover of around 750 million euros.

Design Manager for Depenbrock Scandinavia

Do you have solid experience with civil and water construction engineering as well as design and sizing of steel structures – and do you thrive in the tension between technical immersion and coordination? The position as Design Manager is part of the company’s ambitious growth plans and a desire to develop the technical foundation to the next level.

Depenbrock Scandinavia is the Danish division in the Depenbrock group and, after only a few years in the Danish market, has established itself with strong results. The company today consists of about 16 employees, where the Danish department works independently and actively draws on the German organization for machines, equipment, engineering competencies and IT. The primary office is in Randers, but there are also office spaces and storage in Støvring.

You report to the managing director and are responsible for a small team consisting of a Design Engineer and a Technical Designer. You will be a sparring partner and work closely with colleagues in bids, sales and project management, where you will be a technical advisor for design and dimensioning and further development of the products. You ensure high quality in the deliveries and compliance with applicable standards.

The project portfolio spans a broad range of Shore-to-Ship solutions, movable and fixed steel bridges, port facilities and other advanced steel constructions with high technical complexity. Projects vary in size and involve everything from design to construction, fabrication, installation and commissioning. The variation in projects and their complexity means that no day is the same, and there is plenty of opportunity for both professional immersion and rapid technical clarifications.

Your main tasks

• Earthworks and foundation work: Precise preliminary investigations and geotechnical analyses to ensure stable and durable solutions.
• Concrete work: From foundations to advanced structures tailored to the project’s needs.
• Water construction and piling work: Design and installation of coastal and maritime facilities.
• Environmental work: Projects focusing on sustainable and environmentally friendly solutions.
• 3D modelling, design and dimensioning of static and potentially dynamic, movable steel and machine constructions – depending on your background.
• Site measurements and 3D scanning in the early phase of the project (training provided).
• Construction and extensive technical documentation, including CE marking and statutory requirements.
• Coordination across sales, bids, design and project – including planning, prioritization and follow-up.
• Standardization of solutions and participation in product development with a focus on robustness and efficiency.
• Ongoing sparring with the German engineering teams when projects require specialist knowledge or extra capacity.

Who are you?

• You have a background as a civil/structural engineer with solid experience in construction and water construction technology as well as design and dimensioning of steel structures.
• Alternatively you have a background as a mechanical engineer with solid experience in design and dimensioning of static and dynamic, movable steel- and machine constructions.
• You have experience with relevant CAD and calculation tools – e.g. Inventor, AutoCAD, Vault, Tekla, Robot or similar.
• Communicates professionally in Danish and English.
• Work in a structured, analytical and pragmatic way and follow things through.
• You are physically present on projects when required, corresponding to about 10–15 travel days per year.
