About the job

Do you have an eye for detail, practical solutions and the perfect item for the perfect scene? As a prop master, you will be an important part of the work of creating scenic universes, where everything from the small teacup to the large, unusual prop must sit right in place.

About the job

You work with props from concept and preparation to rehearsals and performances. You work across theatre, opera and ballet, and will spend time in the theatre's three houses. Everyday life is dynamic, and it requires both structure, responsibility and a desire to find solutions when an artistic process develops or changes character.

You will, among other things, be doing

  • Procure, prepare, adapt and maintain props
  • Collaborate with colleagues and the artistic teams on the props' function and expression
  • Handle props before, during and after rehearsals and performances

What you can contribute

We are looking for someone who can work independently and actively participate in close collaboration. You thrive with a mix of practical tasks, coordination and creative solutions, and you have a sense that even the smallest detail can have significance on stage.

We imagine that you

  • Have experience with prop work in theatre - or film/TV production
  • Have good practical skills, quirky ideas and a sense for details
  • Can plan and prioritize your tasks in a changing day-to-day
  • Work independently, responsibly and maintain an overview when it is busy
  • Are keen to join a team, and contribute with a good energy
  • Can engage professionally in English
  • Are curious about new methods, materials and sustainable solutions
  • Are good at thinking creatively when a solution isn’t on the shelf
  • Have basic knowledge of Microsoft Office as well as Adobe, and can manage a budget

Employment terms

The positions are full-time as of January 1, 2027 and employment takes place under the Common Agreement between the Ministry of Finance and Public Employees Organizations - The Public Sector, as well as the Organizational Agreement for theatre technicians/pedellers at The Royal Theatre.

Working hours are flexible, and evening and weekend work will often occur.

How to apply

Apply through the application form, and attach your CV and a short motivated application. The deadline is November 30, 2026.

Please note that a child-criminal record check will be obtained in connection with the employment.
