About the job

We are seeking an engaged development consultant for an exciting position.

You will have a job that closely links strategic focus and operations, and an important role in the department's work with development projects.

In the role you will help create development and improvements for the benefit of patients and staff.

Your tasks

Your primary task will be to support the department's various units and the coordination between them when new and larger initiatives need to be developed or implemented.

You can expect that your task portfolio will most often consist of 1-2 larger development projects with a time horizon of 1-3 years as well as 1-2 initiatives with a time horizon of 6-12 months. The distinctive feature of your tasks as a development consultant will be that these are tasks requiring project management and coordination across or between several different ambulatory units and ward areas, as well as with external parties.

The tasks can originate from national political decisions such as the 10-year plan for psychiatry, the Sønderjylland Health Council’s near-health plan, or from the department's own development initiatives.

In the last couple of years the department has worked on the following development projects: Implementation of integrated dual-diagnosis treatment, establishment of supported housing teams, implementation of a new course description for psychosis, and development of organization and practice around working with clinical quality databases.

As a new development consultant in the department you can expect that some of your initial tasks will relate to the prevention of coercion, improved diagnostic pathways or patient pathways that cross between psychiatry and somatics.

You will to a lesser extent contribute to solving the staff’s common tasks. The tasks are set based on your wishes and competences.

We wish that you

  • Have in-depth knowledge of and solid experience with project management, including that you:
  • Can get an overview of and develop overarching plans for development initiatives with attention to the different elements to be included along the way
  • Can initiate, coordinate, facilitate and take care of the concrete tasks associated with the different phases of projects
  • Can evaluate development initiatives and report to administrative or political leadership
  • Are able to create buy-in among leaders and staff when new development projects are launched and need to succeed
  • Want to participate in complex processes with a focus on involving relevant stakeholders
  • Are able to collaborate across units and departments as well as with different professional groups and external actors
  • Are proactive, persistent and able to work with a high degree of independence
  • It is advantageous if you have experience from a politically led organization or have knowledge of development work in the health sector

An individually tailored introduction program will be prepared.

The development consultant will be part of a staff group of 11 employees in the Psychiatry at Sønderjylland Hospital and report to the head of staff.

About the department

The Psychiatry at Sønderjylland Hospital includes the Psychiatric Emergency Reception, mobile emergency unit, emergency response service, an elderly psychiatry inpatient ward and four general psychiatric inpatient wards, as well as a department for psychotherapy.

In Haderslev, Sønderborg, Tønder and Aabenraa are located the department's local psychiatric services. There are also specialized outpatient clinics in the form of an elderly psychiatric outpatient clinic, a psychotherapy outpatient clinic, an oligophrenia team, OPUS, a suicide prevention clinic and a supported housing team.

The department employs approximately 460 staff.
