About the job

Would you like to work with some of the largest and most complex banks and SIFI groups and help form the overall picture of their risks and governance? Do you have experience with financial supervision or relevant experience from the financial sector, you may be the colleague we are seeking in the Office for Supervision of Group and Governance.

About the Office

We are 27 employees with diverse professional backgrounds, including economists and lawyers. The Office consists of two teams, and you will be part of the team that has the overarching supervision responsibility for the largest Danish SIFI groups and banks.

Our focus is the group as a whole. We supervise, among other things, the group's governance and overall management and have ongoing dialogue at both the management level and with central functions, including risk management, compliance and internal audit as well as with external audit.

A number of significant risk areas – e.g. credit, market, liquidity and anti-money laundering risk – are handled by the Financial Supervisory Authority's specialised professional offices, which make the technical assessments in their respective areas. Our task is to have an eye for the whole and ensure that significant risks and relationships between them are identified and addressed from a supervisory perspective at the group level.

The job therefore differs from a specialist role. You do not need to be the deepest expert in one single risk area, but you should be able to understand and assess how different risks, business areas and governance factors affect the bank or the group as a whole.

What tasks will you perform?

Your tasks and responsibilities will depend on your experience. You will, among other things,

  • follow and assess developments in the bank's and group’s risk profile
  • plan and conduct the ongoing group supervision
  • collaborate with the Financial Supervisory Authority's professional offices and participate in supervisory activities so that key observations are included in the overall assessment
  • participate in and – depending on your experience – lead function and theme inspections
  • engage in the ongoing dialogue with banks and SIFI groups
  • process relevant applications and inquiries from the institutions.

Depending on your profile and interests you can also join one of the office's technical teams in areas such as operational risk, data and model governance or group and conglomerate regulations. There may also be an opportunity to participate in European cooperation within the European Banking Authority (EBA).

What do we expect from you?

You are motivated by seeing banks and SIFI groups from a broad perspective and understanding interconnections rather than working in one narrow specialist area.

We especially anticipate that you have experience with financial supervision and knowledge of the financial sector and regulation. Relevant supervisory experience from other areas can also be a good starting point. You may also have built your experience in the financial sector, for example in risk management, compliance or governance.

We emphasise that

  • You have analytical judgment. You can handle large amounts of information, ask the right questions and cut to the core issues.
  • You can drive processes and follow up tasks to completion. You take responsibility, can plan larger sequences and create progress, even when there are many contributions and interests at stake.
  • You communicate clearly and openly. You convey complex issues precisely in writing and orally and can engage constructively in professional dialogue with experienced professionals – even when you disagree.

You are generally expected to have a relevant master's degree, e.g. in economics, business economics, corporate law or law. If you have another educational background, we will emphasise that your experience and professional profile provide you with a strong foundation for the role.

We offer

You will have the opportunity to apply your experience in new ways in the work with the largest and most complex banks and SIFI groups. You will gain a broad perspective on their business, governance and risks and have the opportunity to develop through complex supervisory tasks and greater responsibility.

At the same time, you will be part of an important societal task, contributing to a robust financial sector and financial stability.

The Financial Supervisory Authority is a workplace with a high professional level, an informal tone and a good working environment. We also offer a range of employee benefits, including a paid lunch break, canteen scheme, massage, laundry, free parking and various professional and social activities.

What are the terms of employment?

Your employment is in accordance with the applicable collective agreement between AC and the Ministry of Finance. Upon employment, you must present a criminal record. Expected start is as soon as possible and no later than 1 January 2027.
