Skilled special education teacher / social educator for Frederik, an 8-year-old, by Furesøen

We are seeking an experienced pedagogue who can offer Frederik a calm and safe nervous system to lean into.

Frederik has the diagnoses of infantile autism and severe intellectual disability. In addition, he has ADHD, no language, and a cognitive level corresponding to a child of about 1 year. He is very physically active and loves jumping on the trampoline in the garden, going on bike and walking trips by the lake and in nature, and watching Gurli Gris.

Frederik is a sweet and loving boy who quickly shows trust to the people he stays with, but he is sensitive, including very sound-sensitive. Therefore we are seeking an experienced pedagogue who can offer him a calm and safe nervous system to lean into when dogs bark or when there are a few too loud children nearby.

Frederik rarely acts out, but in very stressful situations he can pull or bite, so you should know this. We already have two helpers who have been with us for many years (2.5 and 5 years respectively), so you must not think that Frederik is impossible or unsafe to care for.

About Frederik

We are seeking a special education teacher / social educator with experience with children with special needs to care for Frederik by arrangement during daytime hours. This involves 6-12 hours per week in the time period from 10:00, with 4-6 hours thereafter. Shift length can be agreed further.

In time there will be opportunity for more hours, which can be placed on weekends or evenings, but it is not a requirement that you have the possibility for this.

Frederik is home-tutored and home-schooled with assistance from a special education teacher / sensorimotor guidance and a psychologist (Ditte Rose Andersen). He depends on structure, routines, and predictability, and we therefore seek a person who understands and has experience with the importance of this. He has a somewhat task-avoidant profile, which is not about a lack of willingness to cooperate but about a need for time to adapt to changes and time to feel secure.

The family lives in a house by Lake Furesø and has access to plenty of nature, where an active boy can unfold himself.

About the assignment

The task is to relieve the parents according to a separate agreement, primarily during daytime hours. A large part of the work is to accompany Frederik on his fixed daily trips along a familiar route in the scenic area around the family’s home. The family has a special stroller for this purpose.

In addition, Frederik loves to jump on the family’s trampoline, swing in his sensory swing, and crawl and hop around on his BObles items in the living room.

It is important that you are prepared for Frederik to be supervised at all times and to have help with most aspects of the day, including diaper changes. The family provides thorough training in all tasks related to Frederik, as it is important to them that you as a pedagogue feel secure. There is an option for sparring with the psychologist and the sensorimotor consultant who are attached to Frederik’s home training, and his mother is always near the home, so you are not left alone 100%.

You must be able to create the safe environment and the predictability that Frederik needs. You have a loving nature, a ready smile, and a desire to be physically active on the daily outings the job entails.

The hours

The hours are distributed over 2-3 shifts per week of 4-6 hours each, planned in collaboration with the family. Once a solid and secure relationship has been established between Frederik, his family and you, there is the possibility of more hours – either as longer continuous shifts or on weekends.

Salary and terms

The employment is formally through Olivia Danmark, so you are ensured salary and employment terms in accordance with the agreement with FOA. The salary is determined based on your qualifications and experience.

The family supplements if the municipality's granted respite is not sufficient to meet the family's needs in relation to your qualifications.
