About the job

Do you want to be the adult who creates opportunities for participation, strengthens the sense of community, and makes a positive difference in the children's everyday lives?

At Sæby School we believe in the value of the local public school and work every day so that all children thrive, develop and feel that they belong.

We are seeking a pedagogical staff member for a permanent position of 30 hours per week with commencement on 1 December 2026 or by agreement.

With us you will become part of a workplace with engaged colleagues, strong cross-disciplinary collaboration, good camaraderie and an informal tone, where humor is an important part of job satisfaction.

You may be a trained pedagogue, pedagogical assistant or have relevant experience as a teaching assistant. We place particular emphasis on your relational skills, your engagement and your desire to actively contribute to everyday life.

About the position

As a pedagogical employee you will be part of the children's everyday life in both the school and the after-school program (SFO). In the school part you join the collaboration around a year group in the early years, where together with teachers and other staff you work to create good conditions for the children9;s well-being, development, participation and learning.

In the SFO you will become part of a dedicated team that works to create a safe, exciting and coherent everyday life for the children. You will help plan and implement activities, but just as important you must be able to seize the opportunities that arise in everyday life and be present in your relationship with the children.

We emphasize movement, play, creativity and active communities. Therefore it is advantageous if you have particular interests or skills that you would like to bring into play with the children. For example within sports, outdoor life, music, workshop, creative activities or something completely different.

About Sæby School

Sæby School is a department of Sydskolen with about 330 pupils from 0th-4th grade and about 230 children connected to the after-school program. We are surrounded by forest, beach and good outdoor areas, which we actively use in both school and leisure, and we have good facilities that support a varied everyday life for the children.

We are a school that

  • has good camaraderie, an informal tone and sees humor as an important part of job happiness
  • sees great value in the collaboration between teachers, pedagogues and other educational staff
  • believes that strong relationships are the foundation for children's well-being and development
  • works purposefully to create participation opportunities for all children
  • sees well-being as a prerequisite for learning

Our shared view of children is

"Children do well - given the circumstances and the framework they are in."

This means that we meet the children where they are, are curious about their perspectives and take joint responsibility for creating the framework where each child can succeed and experience themselves as a valuable part of the community.

We are looking for a colleague who

  • has an appreciative and inclusive approach to working with children
  • is relationally strong and focused on creating safe communities
  • can think creatively and create developing communities for all children
  • thrives in close collaboration with colleagues and parents
  • meets children and colleagues with curiosity, engagement, energy and good humor
