About the job

Do you want to use your environmental law expertise in a growing municipality?

We are looking for a lawyer with solid environmental law knowledge who will work independently with advice, guidance and case handling – and at the same time be part of a strong legal community.

You will be a professional sparring partner for the organization and will receive tasks close to the municipality's development. In addition to environmental law you will, among other things, work with expropriation, supervision of the public housing sector and other public law.

You are a Cand.jur. or Cand.merc.jur. and can also have a background as a lawyer. Relevant experience may have been gained in a municipality, another public authority, consulting firm or a law firm. The decisive thing is your environmental law expertise – not your previous employer.

A meaningful job with environmental law at the center

The Legal Department is part of the Directorate's Staff and functions as the municipality's internal legal advisors. We support the entire organization close to the top administrative level and emphasize integrity, collaboration and useful legal advice.

You will have independent responsibility and professional sparring in a varied everyday life with possibilities for deepening and development.

Your tasks

Environmental law is your primary professional area. You should, among other things

  • Advise, guide and handle cases within environmental law and spar with colleagues across the municipality.
  • Work on projects within climate adaptation, nature protection, biodiversity, soil contamination, waste and other environmental law areas.
  • Carry out supervision of the social housing sector in collaboration with a colleague.
  • Work with expropriation cases connected to urban development and construction projects, including roads and cycle paths.
  • Contribute to administrative law and municipal law issues, including the municipal power of attorney, cooperation agreements and other cross-cutting tasks.

You don't need to be a specialist in all areas. Experience with social housing supervision and expropriation is an advantage, but the ability and willingness to quickly acquaint yourself with the areas can also be sufficient. Financial understanding is an advantage in working with the social housing sector.

Your professional background

You have a legal education at master's level as Cand.jur. or Cand.merc.jur. and solid competencies within environmental law. You can also be a lawyer. We particularly welcome experience with industrial environments, nature and environmental assessment, but not necessarily with all three areas.

Experience with public law in a broad sense is relevant, but previous employment in a municipality is not a requirement. For example you may have advised municipalities from a law firm or a private consulting firm.

We are seeking an experienced lawyer with solid environmental law competencies, but have not set a specific number of years of seniority. We value your ability to work independently and translate the law into understandable, usable solutions.

We also value that you

  • Communicate clearly with citizens, advisors and internal partners.
  • Work in a structured, responsible and service-oriented way – including with several simultaneous tasks.
  • Thrive on collaboration and professional knowledge sharing in a politically governed organization.
  • Want to contribute to the department's development, including an appropriate use of AI in legal work.

About the Legal Department

We are eight staff and work among other things with public law, governance law, administrative law, tenant law, data protection, environmental law, planning law, building law, expropriation, buying and selling real estate, supervision of subsidized housing construction, contract law and the municipal power. The Rent Tribunal, Tenant Complaint Board and Grant Board are also anchored with us.

We collaborate with lawyers in the municipality's other service areas and in a joint legal network across the municipality.

What you get with us

  • A varied and meaningful position with independent responsibility and the possibility for professional specialization.
  • Engaged colleagues, professional sparring and the opportunity to influence the department's development.
  • An working environment with a focus on wellbeing, psychological safety and collaboration.
  • Flexibility and the possibility of homeworking.
  • Employee benefits such as canteen, fruit scheme, holiday homes, physiotherapy via the employee treatment scheme, free fitness room and clubs.

Salary and practical terms

The position is generally full-time, but we are open to discussing your preferences.

Salary and terms of employment follow the applicable collective agreement and are set concretely according to competences, experience and seniority.

The position is intended to be filled on 1 January 2027.

We conduct interviews on an ongoing basis, so hurry to send an application.
