About the job

INTEGRATION OF EQUIPMENT IN ADVANCED SHIP DESIGN

Odense / Copenhagen

Odense Maritime Technology is one of the world’s leading design houses in the design and construction of the most efficient ships for both military and civilian purposes. The company is currently, in close collaboration with other leading international technology companies, pursuing two important societal tasks: Development and construction of new Arctic fleet ships, and climate-friendly ferries that will support regional mobility and the green transition.

Specialist in integration and design of mechanical equipment on fleet ships

Are you a mechanical or naval engineer (or similar) and are you passionate about integrating different types of equipment into a cohesive, complex solution that is functionally and safety-wise top-tier? Then you will have the opportunity here to realize your creativity and ability to think in three dimensions – while maintaining a close connection to your mechanical expertise.

You will become part of an engineering group focused on arranging the functional part of the ship’s outfitting. The tasks span a wide range – from deck equipment to machinery – and the common denominator is that the equipment must be robust, reliable, and easy to operate. At the same time, it must fit into a design where space is often limited, and where future changes and expansions are contemplated.

You will, among other things, have a role where you, in close collaboration with internal colleagues and external suppliers, identify and clarify the best solutions. Your main tasks will include:

  • Arrangement and integration of deck equipment and machinery – e.g. cranes, anchor systems, and mooring equipment
  • Arrangement and integration of hangars, lifeboats, rescue boats, access routes, etc.
  • Concept design of cargo and container handling
  • Preparation of technical specifications for equipment suppliers
  • Participation in the preparation of construction specifications
  • Collaboration and coordination – both internally and with customers
  • Collaboration and negotiation with system and equipment suppliers

You can look forward to a varied job with opportunities for both professional deepening and broad interaction – in collaboration with skilled colleagues and partners at home and abroad.

Engineer with broad technical insight and solution-oriented approach

If you have experience from the maritime sector’s suppliers or from the mechanical industry, you have good prerequisites to quickly understand the task: to develop complex, customer-tailored solutions based on known modules and proven concepts.

Among your important competencies and areas of interest we place great emphasis on the following:

  • You have broad technical insight and interest in mechanical constructions
  • You can understand relevant rules, class and authorities’ requirements that affect the execution of your work
  • You are comfortable with 2D drawing and also preferably 3D
  • You understand the importance of collaboration – both internally and with external specialists – to create good solutions and high user satisfaction
  • You speak fluent English – both written and spoken

You are used to working according to regulatory requirements, standards and customer specifications, where some boundaries are given. At the same time, it is at least as important that you place emphasis on staying ahead of technological development, where you see increasing demands for sustainability and cost-effectiveness as an opportunity for personal and professional development.

There will be limited travel associated with the job.

A modern company with flexibility and focus on professional development

You are primarily offered an exciting and developing position, where you become part of a strong specialist environment that strives to stay at the forefront of development and deliver world-class ship design. At the same time, you become part of an organization with short decision paths and a culture where good collegial collaboration goes hand in hand with high professional ambitions and a modern daily arrangement. There is the possibility of flexible working life – with bases in Odense and Copenhagen offices and with the possibility of home working.
