About the job

Do you want a meaningful job where you make a difference and stay in shape?

We are looking for engaged and responsible lifeguards for our swimming halls across Copenhagen.

The City of Copenhagen’s swimming facilities are operated by SvømKBH under the Culture, Leisure and Citizen Service Administration. We are responsible for the city’s swimming halls, outdoor baths, harbour baths and beaches. We employ about 150 lifeguards spread across the city’s many swimming halls – and we would like you to join the team.

We offer

  • opportunity for a permanent full-time or part-time job
  • a strong sense of community with 10–30 colleagues in each swimming hall
  • an active and meaningful everyday life with extensive contact with the city’s residents and guests

We prepare you for the task with training, skills development and onboarding - whether it’s lifeguarding, water treatment, cleaning or swimming facility operations.

What does the job involve?

You will have an important role as lifeguard/host, where, in collaboration with good colleagues, you help create safety, deliver good service and ensure positive experiences for thousands of Copenhagen residents – from morning bathers to families with children, fitness enthusiasts and competitive swimmers.

You join a dedicated team where teamwork, flexibility and responsibility are keywords, and you also thrive working at all our swimming facilities around the city.

You are motivated when your primary tasks are to

  • be a friendly and professional host for our many guests and, together with your colleagues, be the face of the swimming hall outward
  • supervise our pools and the safety of bath guests
  • contribute with high cleaning standards so the swimming hall and bath areas appear clean, safe and welcoming
  • assist with operations and maintenance – and take responsibility when it matters

Is this you?

In addition to being a team player and approachable, you must be a skilled swimmer with good fitness, as the job requires this. You must pass the vocational lifeguard exam, which includes diving (minimum 3.8 meters) after a lifeguard mannequin, which is a condition of employment. You can find more information about the test here: Vocational Lifeguard Test .

All of our swimming facilities are open during day and evening hours as well as weekends, so it is important that you are flexible with working hours. Working hours typically lie between 05:00-00:00, and you must be comfortable with shift work.

It would be advantageous if you have knowledge of first aid or experience in the swimming pool industry.

We expect that you

  • are service-minded and take responsibility when tasks or situations require it, that your collaboration skills are good, and you can be relied upon as a colleague
  • can communicate professionally with guests and colleagues as well as external suppliers
  • have a digital mindset, as Copenhagen Municipality works with many new digital solutions regarding e.g. access control, lifeguard systems and duty scheduling
  • can communicate in Danish
