Occupational Therapist wanted at Esbjerg Grindsted Hospital

Are you passionate about hand therapy, specialized rehabilitation and working with children with cerebral palsy? Then perhaps you are the one we are looking for. We are seeking an occupational therapist for our hand therapy team in Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy in Esbjerg. The position is permanent and 36 hours per week with employment starting 1 February 2027.

About the position: We are looking for a dedicated and professionally curious occupational therapist for our hand therapy team in Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy at Esbjerg Hospital. The position is primarily linked to the hand surgical area, where you will have the opportunity to work with outpatient patients with various hand surgical issues – including a smaller part as specialized rehabilitation. You will also be part of the local CPOP team, where your role in working with children with cerebral palsy will have a special focus on assessment of hand function and the occupational therapy input.

A smaller part of your tasks will be directed at inpatients in the orthopedic surgery department, other medical and neurological departments. Here you will perform basic occupational therapy assessments, including assessment of the patient9s functional ability and ADL, dysphagia screening as well as relevant neurological assessments.

Your main tasks will be

• Occupational therapy assessment of hand function and functional capacity
• Description and documentation of rehabilitation needs - including preparation of rehabilitation plans for general rehabilitation in primary sector
• Instruction of patients in exercises and adjustment of prefabricated splints and guidance in handling daily activities
• Specialized rehabilitation of hand-surgical patients with complex injuries – including fabrication of individually tailored orthoses
• Participation in CPOP follow-up program
• Occupational therapy assessment of inpatients

We are looking for an occupational therapist who

• Has experience with hand therapy and the specialized area
• Has an interest in engaging in the work with assessment of hand function in children with cerebral palsy
• Can maintain an overview in a busy daily work and can prioritize the occupational therapy input for the different types of patients
• Has good communication skills in writing and speaking – dialogue and documentation are a significant part of the daily work
• Can work independently and at the same time actively participate in team collaboration with e.g. physician and nurse when required.
• Is professionally engaged and actively contributes to the development of the profession

Salary and employment terms: Some shifts on weekends and holidays can be expected.

The position is 36 hours per week with start on 01.02.27 or by agreement.

Salary and employment terms follow the agreement between the Danish Association of Occupational Therapists and Regions of Denmark.

The region is obliged to inform you of the starting salary for the position. You will be informed of base pay, centrally set allowances and pension in Agreement for Non-Executive Staff in the Health Cartel area 32.17.1 - salary as of 1.4.2026 . In addition to the starting salary, the salary may include any negotiated allowances depending on the position, your experience and qualifications.
