About the job
The Public Prosecutor's Office is seeking a professionally strong and independent data protection lawyer. The position is aimed at you who can both delve into complex professional issues and find solutions that work in practical reality.
The position is available from February 1, 2027.
About the position
The Public Prosecutor's Office is seeking a data protection lawyer who will play a central role in the work with data protection at the Public Prosecutor's Office, the three state prosecutors and the Forensic Psychiatric Clinic. With us you will have the opportunity to deploy your competences in an organization that has direct significance for citizens and for trust in the legal system.
The position is placed in Prosecutorial Unit 1 in the Public Prosecutor's Office Quality Department, where the data protection area is handled by two specialized employees – where you could become one of them. In addition to data protection, Prosecutorial Unit 1 is responsible for e.g. violent crime, economic crime and traffic crime.
As a data protection lawyer with us you will both be able to provide concrete sparring to your colleagues and more strategic and development-oriented advisory. You will thus contribute as a valuable sparring partner for employees on everything from data subjects' rights to risk assessments and data processing agreements and help ensure that data protection rules are integrated into daily operations and in new initiatives in areas such as IT and digitalization.
Development and assurance of high quality in relation to digitization, IT and information security are important and prioritized tasks in the organization, and ongoing advisory in relation to these areas will therefore be one of your primary areas of work.
In addition, there will be opportunities to work with the more prosecutorial angle through criminal cases concerning data protection, where the Public Prosecutor's Office provides sparring to prosecutors in the local public prosecutor's offices and at the state prosecutors and is responsible for the relevant section in the Public Prosecutor's Notice.
The tasks are varied and cover both long-term, complex projects and smaller tasks that often must be handled quickly and securely. Examples of concrete tasks are:
- Professional sparring in connection with the acquisition of new systems and internal development projects
- Preparation of data protection risk assessments and impact analyses
- Professional sparring on data processing agreements
- Handling and follow-up of reported breaches of data security
- Preparation of or contributions to internal guidelines and instructions
- Professional sparring on concrete questions, e.g. in relation to secure communication with domestic collaborators and foreign authorities and in safeguarding the rights of data subjects.
You will have a broad contact surface within the Public Prosecutor's Office and must be able to cooperate well with different professional groups. You will, among other things, cooperate with the state prosecutors and partake in external collaborations with particularly the Police, Danish Prisons and the Court Administration. The Public Prosecutor's Office also assists the Forensic Psychiatric Clinic with questions about data protection.
The Public Prosecutor's Office continually focuses on ensuring a high level of data protection by ensuring that employees have access to relevant training. We therefore seek a data protection lawyer who also thrives on teaching, including developing and delivering courses, e-learning, etc.
If it matches your experience and competencies, there will be the possibility to take responsibility for the operation of the data protection area in collaboration with the relevant Deputy Public Prosecutor.
About you
You have a Master of Laws degree (cand.jur.) and solid experience with data protection law. You can advise across the fields of criminal law, GDPR and the Data Protection Act. In addition, we expect that you:
- have a high professional level
- take responsibility for both quality and process
- work analytically and communicate clearly – both in writing and verbally
- have a sense of organizational needs and willingness for strategic development of the data protection area
- can translate data protection into concrete and understandable guidelines, procedures and training
- thrive in and take responsibility for interdisciplinary collaboration
- have a solution-oriented approach and contribute positively to the professional and social environment
In addition, it is an advantage, but not a requirement, if you have knowledge of the Public Prosecutor's Organization and its work.
About us
The obligation of the Public Prosecutor's Office, together with the police, is to prosecute crimes. We have an open, curious and honest tone of voice. We offer a dynamic and flexible workplace with diverse and challenging tasks. We have a strong and informal social community, and you will be able to spar with and seek inspiration from skilled colleagues and leaders. You will gain broad insight into a range of varied tasks within a large organization.
Salary and employment terms

Considering the position's weight, placement for candidates with high experience and competence could occur in the base salary range for chief consultants, as stated in the above appendix. Placement and any other allowances are negotiated individually.
If you are already employed as a civil servant in the Civil Service area, you may keep your civil servant employment. The position is classified in pay grade 36 with associated fixed allowances. In addition, any individual allowances can be agreed depending on relevant experience and qualifications
The position's employment area is the Ministry of Justice with its affiliated institutions. If you are already employed in the Ministry of Justice’s employment area, a move to this position would be a transfer within the area.
