About the job
Experienced Grid Engineer - set the direction for the future 20-0,4 kV power grid
Can you see yourself in a role with direct influence on the future power grid and the green transition? As an experienced Grid Engineer at N1, you will be part of the organization that owns and plans the grid. You will play a central role in analyzing, prioritizing and translating future capacity needs into concrete decisions on reinvestments, grid reinforcements and expansions, so we ensure both reliability of supply today and the grid for tomorrow's electrification.
Your role – from grid ownership to investment decisions
You will become part of a technically strong environment with eight specialists who work on the development of the low- and medium-voltage networks across N1's service area.
As the grid owner, we sit at the center of decisions about the future power grid. We monitor the grid's condition and load, analyze future needs and prioritize reinvestments, grid reinforcements and capacity expansions that will ensure both high reliability of supply and room for continued electrification.
You will have independent responsibility for your own areas of the distribution network, where you build in-depth knowledge of the condition, capacity and development needs of the assets. Based on technical analyses and assessments you will prepare plans and investment bases, which form the foundation for future electrical infrastructure. Thus you will have a strong influence on the strategic priorities and investments that shape the grid for many years to come.
Additionally, your tasks will include;
- Qualify and prioritize reinvestments, grid reinforcements and capacity expansions in the 20/0,4 kV network as the basis for investment decisions
- Prepare technical decision briefs and development plans for your own network areas
- Contribute to the development of the future distribution grid through analyses, standardization and technical sparring
- Development of internal technical standards and digital tools
The team is distributed across our locations in Aalborg, Silkeborg and Esbjerg, so your place of employment can be one of the three. You will naturally also have the opportunity for partial remote work after a further agreement. It is important to us that you can balance work and leisure and family life.
The position is full-time.
Who are you?
You have a technical profile and thrive with responsibility and room to act, and have already gained experience with technical analyses or operation of the power grid/infrastructure. You are educated as an electrical power engineer, a machinist (maskinmester), or have a similar technical background, and you now want greater influence on the long-term decisions that shape the grid's development.
You are motivated by working with technical issues at a system level and translating analyses into concrete priorities and plans for the grid's development.
As a grid owner we are responsible for ensuring a robust and future-proof grid. Therefore it is important that you thrive with professional responsibility, can challenge solutions constructively and stand firm on the priorities that are best for the grid.
We imagine that you
- Have experience with distribution networks, electricity supply or similar technical infrastructures – and you are used to making or qualifying technical priorities with long-term significance
- Actively contribute to professional sparring and see the value in standardization and digitalization
- Have a good system understanding and can translate technical insight into priorities and long-term plans
- Thrive in the grid owner role and can constructively challenge and set requirements for the organization
- Work analytically and in a structured way and value cross-functional collaboration
Flexibility and community in everyday life
As an employee at N1 you get a lot of influence over your tasks and your day. We believe you are the best for your job. With us there is flexibility to make everyday life fit as well as possible and plenty of room for initiative and your professional competence. At the same time you will experience a strong sense of community where we help each other succeed. If you can take care of your own tasks and help your colleagues become better, you are exactly the person we need at N1.

We look forward to hearing from you.
We are a power grid company that operates, expands and develops Denmark's largest electricity grid. It cannot be said more clearly.
We are 750 colleagues who every day contribute to driving the electrification of Denmark, and who ensure that more than 800,000 homes and businesses have power at hand – now and in the future. In other words, we must develop tomorrow's grid so that it is ready for solutions that have not yet seen the light of day. It is a big responsibility and a societal mission that we are proud to solve together.
But if there should still be power in the outlet in the future, we must dare to think anew and differently, and be open to new energy; new solutions and new colleagues.
At N1 we are a workplace driven by people, and our framework provides room for both work life, family life and everything in between. For example, we are proud that there is no cap on a child’s sick days. We think that makes good sense.
N1 is Jutland's largest electric grid company, we are owned by the Norlys group, and are geographically anchored in Esbjerg and also spread across offices in Aalborg, Silkeborg and Copenhagen. You can read more about us at N1.dk or follow our daily life on LinkedIn/@elnetselskabet N1.
