About the job
Do you want to lead the work to give the Mølleåen a boost? Do you have experience with lake and river restoration, and would you like to drive a project with many partners from idea to concrete actions? Then you now have the opportunity to become our new colleague in Team Nature in the Department of Nature and Environment.
The position has been created as a direct consequence of the fact that the parties in the City Council have reached an agreement on the budget for 2027 in Lyngby-Taarbæk Municipality and have allocated extra funds to strengthen the efforts to improve water quality in the Mølleåen. The funds will both strengthen work on wastewater planning, discharge permits and the effort to improve the river’s condition overall.
You will be the one who drives the final part: identifying the measures that can improve the Mølleåen and the associated lakes. At the same time, we are hiring a colleague in another department to strengthen the work on wastewater planning and discharge permits. In practice, we have a close collaboration.
The Mølleåen and the lakes along the river are among the most valuable nature we have in the municipality – and a water system used by many, from rowers and recreational fishers to pedestrians and cyclists. The river runs through several municipalities, and improvements therefore require close collaboration with the other Mølleå municipalities, the state and the many stakeholders and users of the river and lakes.
About the job
Your primary task will be to drive the work of identifying, prioritizing and maturing measures that can improve the condition of the Mølleåen and the associated lakes upstream (Lyngby Lake, Bagsværd Lake, Furesø). You will receive a clear mandate and political focus behind the task – and the responsibility to translate it into concrete results.
The tasks will mainly be
- Drive the project for a strengthened effort for the Mølleåen from discovery and project description to concrete actions, including timeline, finances, progress and anchoring
- Compile and assess existing knowledge about water quality, ecological condition and sources of load and indicate the need for new knowledge
- Identify and assess possible interventions in the river and lakes, e.g. river and lake restoration, improvement of the physical conditions and reduction of nutrient loading
- Participate in establishing and facilitating cooperation with the other Mølleå municipalities, the state, utility companies, landowners, associations and users of the river and lakes
- Prepare decision bases, agenda items and notices for the political level
- Contribute to the municipality’s other river restoration tasks together with the rest of the team, especially the municipality’s other river professional and colleagues in the operations department and across the administration
- Give and receive sparring on measures with colleagues, especially the river colleague and the colleagues who work with wastewater planning and discharge permits.
The tasks will be carried out both independently and in close collaboration with your nearest river colleague as well as other colleagues across the nature and wastewater area – in your own department and in the rest of the Center for City and Nature.
About you
You have solid experience with lake and river work and restoration and know what it takes to move a project from analysis to action in a field with many actors. You are good at creating momentum and getting others on board, and you thrive in a politically governed organization.
We are looking for a colleague who can check many of the following boxes
- Have a relevant academic education such as a biology or similar
- Have substantial experience with lake and river restoration projects
- Have strong experience with project or program leadership, preferably in projects with many parties
- Have pronounced organizational understanding and can navigate both within your own organization and across authorities and stakeholders
- Have execution power and can translate plans into concrete actions and results
- Work independently and take responsibility for your own task solving
- Have a pronounced sense of collaboration and place high value on sparring and knowledge sharing
- Understand municipal political decision-making processes and can write to a political level
- Have knowledge of the Administration Act and the relevant field legislation in the area
- Write and communicate well in Danish, i.e. short, clear and understandable.
