About the job
Four student assistants are sought in Medialab for equipment lending and technical support
Job Description
Your tasks
As a student assistant in Medialab you will have a practical daily routine, where you primarily help students and staff with borrowing and returning equipment. You are the point of contact daily when someone comes to pick up or return cameras and other gear, and you ensure that it is correctly booked and registered in the system.
You also help keep the equipment rooms and common areas tidy, so it is easy to find cables, cameras and other gear.
There may be a need for technical assistance for students and instructors who wish to borrow the equipment or need help with teaching tasks, where the instructor needs help transporting and setting up the equipment.
Your competencies
You are enrolled as a student and have the opportunity to work alongside your studies 5 hours per week.
It is a clear advantage if you have basic knowledge of camera equipment, basic editing or audiovisual work, for example through your studies, own projects or previous student jobs.
If you cannot do it all in advance, you are curious and willing to learn what is necessary to help users well. You are meticulous when handling equipment, and you can keep track of multiple loans, even though there can be busy at the desk at times.
As a person you are approachable and patient in meeting other students and staff. You can work independently during the periods when you staff Medialab alone, while informing your colleagues when there is something they need to decide on.
Who are we
Medialab is part of the Department of Culture and Communication and functions as a shared resource centre for students and staff who work with sound, imagery and audiovisual productions. Here you can borrow equipment and get help to get started with recordings and productions that support teaching, projects and research.
You will become part of an environment with close contact to students and teachers
