Would you like to help create a safe, playful and developmental everyday life for the youngest children at Børnehuset Arken? And do you thrive in a workplace community where we are curious about the children, each other and our pedagogical practice? Then it might be you we are looking for for our small child unit (vuggestue).

The position is available from January 1, 2027 and is between 32 and 37 hours per week, depending on your preferences.

The good child life in Arken At Børnehuset Arken we are focused on creating a good child life with attentive adults, strong relationships and room for play, curiosity and immersion. In the vuggestuen (nursery) care, safety and recognizability have a special significance. We work to ensure that each child is met with calm, warmth and positive expectations and experiences themselves as a meaningful part of the community.

We know that small moments often contain something big. It could be the gaze that meets at the changing table, the first careful steps into a play, a song to which everyone has learned the moves, or the joy of feeling wind, rain and grass on a trip outside. Therefore there should be time with us to follow the children's initiatives, name their experiences and be curious together with them.

We create learning environments that draw on the children's perspectives, initiatives and different prerequisites. Everyday routines are an important part of our pedagogical work, and we see meals, dressing, napping and diaper changes as valuable spaces for presence, self-reliance, language and relationships. At the same time, we give space for both sensory experiences, movement, music, play and quiet moments where the individual child can find safety and immersion.

You may be newly graduated or have many years of experience. The most important thing is that you are a trained pedagogue and want to actively contribute your expertise. We do not expect that you can or know everything from the start, but we hope you are curious, reflective and interested in continually developing your practice together with your colleagues.

It is important that you are relationship-capable and have a resource-oriented view of children and adults. For us that means we are attentive to the children's small signals and try to understand what lies behind their actions. We take responsibility for the relationship and for creating frameworks that give each child the opportunity to thrive, develop and find their way into the community. It requires presence, patience and adults who can adjust their approach to the child and the group of children.

About Børnehuset Arken Børnehuset Arken consists of two nursery groups and three kindergarten groups. In the nursery you will become part of a close working community where we together create a safe, developmental and meaningful daily life for the youngest children. At the same time you become part of the whole house, where we collaborate across and pay attention to the children’s good transitions through the house.

Our house is within walking distance of many of Jyllinge's fantastic natural areas, and we actively use the local area as part of everyday life. Even with the youngest children, we go out and explore the world at a pace where everyone can participate. Here, children get the opportunity to use their bodies and senses and experience the changing nature through the year.

Professionally, we are among other things focused on our participation in the development program All Children’s Daycare, on creating professional development through the action learning model and on working with play-rooms. We are curious about our own practice and how we can together develop learning environments that strengthen children's play, relationships and participation opportunities. Time for the core task High professional competence and pedagogical quality are essential to succeed with the political ambition of creating strong communities for all children and young people, and that requires time and space for immersion, reflection and collaboration for the pedagogical staff. In Roskilde Municipality it is politically prioritized that all houses are allocated preparation time.

The preparation time should give staff the opportunity to work more systematically with the core task, and at the same time create better frameworks for professional development, well-being, job satisfaction and strong communities – without compromising on children’s time and staffing.
