About the job

Ground Operations Manager (NPGO)

Do you want to lead governance and safety in Air Greenland's ground operations?

Air Greenland is seeking an AOC Ground Operations Manager who also serves as the Nominated Person Ground Operations (NPGO). You will play a central role in ensuring that ground- and cargo-related activities are performed safely, efficiently and in accordance with Air Greenland's AOC, applicable regulatory requirements, the company’s management system and relevant IOSA standards.

Your responsibility will be to establish requirements, ensure robust processes and conduct a risk-based oversight of ground handling and cargo operations across the network and with external providers. The position reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer/Accountable Manager.

Your key tasks

  • Assume NPGO responsibility to the Accountable Manager and the competent authority and ensure ongoing compliance within ground operations.
  • Ensure that ground- and cargo-activities are performed in accordance with applicable laws, the Ground Operations Manual (GOM) and Air Greenland's management system.
  • Own and maintain the GOM and ensure timely assessment, implementation and communication of regulatory, operational and organizational changes.
  • Define and maintain operational standards for passenger handling, baggage, ramp, load control, aircraft turnaround, de-/anti-icing, fueling and cargo, where relevant.
  • Ensure management of safety- and security-risks within ground and cargo operations, including hazard identification, risk assessment, safety reporting, trend analysis and follow-up on corrective actions.
  • Ensure that training and competency requirements are defined, implemented and verified for relevant internal staff and external handling agents.
  • Take on Safety Action Group responsibilities and actively participate in the Safety Review Board, providing a basis for decision-making and escalating significant risks to the Accountable Manager.
  • Support regulatory supervision, IOSA audits and internal audits and ensure timely and effective handling of findings.
  • Represent Air Greenland in relevant regulatory and industry forums and build and maintain strong relationships with the Danish Transport Authority, IATA, airport operators, ground handling- and cargo service providers, and other strategic partners within Ground and Cargo Operations.

About you

We expect that you

  • Have documented experience from airline ground operations, station operations, ground handling, cargo operations or a similar operational aviation environment.
  • Have the ability to translate regulatory and operational requirements into clear manuals, processes, contract requirements and measurable controls.
  • Have strong communication and collaboration skills, as well as composure and judgment in operational decisions.
  • Have a good understanding of an AOC environment, management systems, safety risk management and compliance monitoring.
  • Professional English skills as well as good Danish or Greenlandic skills.
  • Must be eligible to be accepted by the Danish Transport Authority as Nominated Person for Ground Operations.

Knowledge of EASA Air OPS and IOSA, particularly requirements within Ground Handling Operations (GRH) and Cargo Operations (CGO), as well as regulatory oversight processes, is a major advantage.

We offer

A key position close to Air Greenland's Accountable Manager and operational leadership, with substantial influence on the development of the company's ground operations. The role provides broad engagement across Greenland and with external partners in the network.

In addition, there is an annual holiday travel allowance for the family, pension scheme and an attractive insurance package, which includes loss of earning capacity, full-time accident insurance and group life insurance.
