Head of Department for the Family House in Qaanaaq

For the Avannaata Municipality's Social Department in Qaanaaq we are seeking a Department Head for the Family House, preferably with a background as a social worker, social educator or social assistant, and ideally someone who is educated with a specialization in case management concerning children and families, with start date of 1 December 2026.

The position is permanently attached to the Family House in Qaanaaq, and your immediate supervisor will be the head of the Social Department.

Tasks and responsibilities

• In accordance with the organizational plan and job description, to have daily responsibility for family treatment and guidance throughout the entire district
• Coordinator for child social workers
• Responsible for developing local working methods, functions, including their implementation, so that the municipality's overall objectives and values are achieved in the district
• Responsible lead of all projects that are created and completed and implemented in the Family House
• Responsible for ensuring that the head of the local social department and the head of the Family Center in Ilulissat are informed and kept up to date with developments and trends in the district area

• Dedicated to the work
• Project leader for family guidance in the district
• Has budget responsibility for the daily operation of the Family House - in collaboration with the head of the Family Center in Ilulissat and the head of the local social department
• Is responsible for a targeted effort to provide a consistent offer to the district's residents
• Must ensure a fixed framework for meeting structure at the Family House
• Is responsible for Employee Development Interviews (MUS) with staff under the Family House
• Control and attestation of the Family House's monthly schedules and co-responsibility for statistical reports in the child sector at the local level
• Develop realistic conflict resolution models in practical cooperation with the family

Salary and employment terms

Salary and employment terms are in accordance with the applicable collective agreement between the Government of Greenland and the respective bargaining organization.

A residence is provided with the position.

The position is subject to the Act on the obligation to obtain a public criminal record and child protection check. The applicant must consent thereto, after which documentation will be sought from the National Police (Rigspolitiet).
