About the job
Do you want to be part of a school whose everyday life is characterized by linguistic development, trumpets, project-based learning, play and high ambitions on behalf of the students? Then we will look forward to welcoming you as our new principal.
Ole Rømer School spans two sites , of which one is housed in the newly built Children's and Culture House , which creates frameworks for a very special school offering, as we share a roof with a day care institution as well as the municipality’s Music School, Art School and Drama School, which help give everyday life a creative and interdisciplinary collaboration to the benefit of the students. The Children’s and Culture House won a prize for School Building of the Year in 2023.
There are exciting teaching environments at both sites, and there is a strong commitment that is felt, among other things, in the great drive to develop new teaching methods that raise academic achievement and well-being together with other actors.
Many nationalities meet here and students who bring different languages from home. This reflects the municipality’s diversity and provides an exciting basis for working with culture and language, which is an essential part of self-understanding, friendships, identity, and is fundamental to being able to communicate and tell one’s version of reality. It requires high managerial ambitions, high professional standards, interest in trans-cultural work, linguistic learning environments and parental cooperation.
We are together on a targeted journey to raise the academic level for our students, so we can maintain the already high number of students who progress to a secondary education.
The school has a musical/creative profile . We have a close collaboration with the Music and Art School, where we, among other things, have entire cohorts playing in a brass band and the Language’s music, where teachers in the early years co-teach with teachers from the music school on linguistic development through musical activities. We are part of the partnership with the Danish Concert Orchestra, which regularly has activities and open rehearsals that our students can participate in.
We are well underway with “Future School” , where we work with project-based learning paths and create great academic outcomes, engagement and motivation through this. You will have the responsibility to continue to develop and support the development and implementation of Future School. Read more about the Municipality of Høje-Taastrup’s joint effort to create Future School , which builds on the good teaching that is already taking place.
As a school leader you are conscious of the importance of being visible
You prioritize collaboration with staff, students, parents and the local community. You have the necessary focus on targeted management, planning and the school’s finances. You set direction and are motivated by creating results together with the school staff.
As a school leader you must be a unifying figure , who leads from the front and ensures good cooperation at the school, where you create stability and followership - alongside the broad external collaboration with the local community and with the other public schools in the municipality in a unified school system.
You will lead a newer management team consisting of the headteacher, deputy head, two department heads and a social-educational leader. You will play an important role in setting direction and goals and defining how you should be as a management team, and what you should do together.
A school leader who takes responsibility for shared development
As the head of Ole Rømer School you will not only lead your own school but also be an important player in the development of the municipality’s overall school system. We are seeking a leader who actively engages in the shared ambition to strengthen basic education so that more children can thrive and develop in the general communities, while our special programs are further developed and tailored to the needs we see in the children today and in the future.
You must be able to translate the municipality’s inclusion strategy into practice, work closely with PPR, Family Department and other partners, and contribute to the continued development of the school’s special classes.
We seek a leader who sees strengthening the general education area and developing the special education area as shared and mutually dependent tasks – and who takes shared responsibility to create the best solutions for all children.
We are looking for you who can recognise the following
- Have a relevant professional education and leadership experience
- Extensive knowledge of and experience within the school and education sector
- Are visionary and ambitious on behalf of the students, the school and the municipality
- Have a good overview and can work in a structured and systematic way
- Can set a clear common direction and lead the vision
- Have strong relational competences and the ability to collaborate widely
- Prioritize being visible and accessible
If you want to know more about the job, you are very welcome to send a text message to the center manager Per Spile Trudslev at 24917087 - then Per will call you back. If you would like to visit the school, you can send a text to the deputy head Linda Tønner Niebling at 29622367 – so Linda will call you back.
