About the job

About us

The Danish Institute for Human Rights is established by law by the Folketing (Parliament) as Denmark's national human rights institution to promote and protect human rights. We are an independent state-funded knowledge organization that, based on research and analyses, monitors and advises on the human rights situation in Denmark and Greenland.

The role and identity as the national human rights institution is also the starting point for the institute's international work, which through projects and partnerships contributes to realizing human rights in the countries we work in.

About the position

Are you interested in providing legal advice to citizens and working with complaint cases in the area of discrimination? Then the position as a student on the Institute for Human Rights' Discrimination Line is just for you.

As a student on our Discrimination Line, you will, in cooperation with the department's lawyers and our other advising students, provide advice to citizens who experience discrimination on the grounds of disability, sex, gender identity or gender characteristics, sexual orientation, age, religion or ethnic origin.

You will, among other things, help draft complaints to the Equality Board and inquiries to the parties in the cases, and over time you may themselves handle cases for the Equality Board. You will also have to respond to inquiries from citizens who contact the institute about other issues than discrimination law, but the focus is on discrimination law. You will occasionally be asked to solve practical ad hoc tasks in connection with meetings and contribute to the department's other work.

You can read more about the Discrimination Line here, https://menneskeret.dk/diskriminationslinjen

  • You speak and write Danish and English.
  • You are interested in the societal development and the public debate on equality and human rights issues in Denmark.
