About the job

Would you like to help create stronger communities, better coherence and new opportunities for people who are homeless or at risk of losing their housing as well as veterans and their relatives? Do you have an eye for people, strong relational skills and a desire to connect the threads across professions, organisations and networks? Are you also good at driving processes and turning ideas into action? Then you may be our new homelessness and veterans coordinator.

About the position As the homelessness and veterans coordinator you will play a central role in the development and coordination of two important areas of effort that receive great attention in Kalundborg Municipality. You will help create coherence between the municipality's initiatives, civil society, national actors and the people the effort is about.

The position is located at the Job Center Kalundborg, but your work will take place across the municipality and in close collaboration with, among others, the municipality's other service centres, voluntary associations, social offerings and state actors such as the Veterans Centre.

You will not be a caseworker or an authority figure. Instead, you will be the one who creates connections. The one who gets people to meet, makes collaboration work and turns good ideas into concrete solutions. Some days you sit at the head of the table in a cross-disciplinary development meeting. Other days you drink coffee with a veteran, participate in a network meeting about homelessness or visit partners to strengthen relationships and create new opportunities.

We are therefore looking for a person who thrives on being visible, proactive and relationship-building, and who is motivated to make a difference through collaboration, coordination and development.

Your tasks You will among other things work with

  • Drive and coordinate the ongoing development of the municipality's new homelessness initiative.
  • Be proactive in establishing contact with veterans, citizens who are homeless or at risk of losing their housing, and relevant partners and services.
  • Be the convenor and chair for the municipality's new cross-cutting forum for supporting concrete citizens in homelessness situations.
  • Be the municipality's central point of contact on the veteran area for veterans, relatives, colleagues and partners, and contribute to a coherent effort for veterans and their relatives.
  • Prepare and maintain project and implementation plans and ensure progress, follow-up and coordination of development tasks in accordance with agreed goals, decisions and time frames.
  • Strengthen collaboration between municipal departments, external partners and civil society actors.
  • Plan, coordinate and implement activities, events and network initiatives in the homelessness and veteran area – for example, the Flag Day for Denmark's Deployment and the homelessness census
  • Make the municipality's homelessness and veteran effort visible and raise awareness of relevant offers and opportunities

Your profile We are not looking for one specific professional background, but the right combination of relational skills, development energy and understanding of the welfare sector.

We imagine that you

  • Have experience from the welfare sector and an interest in creating an even stronger effort for the homeless and veterans in Kalundborg Municipality.
  • Have experience with coordination and project management across organizations and fields and can create structure, overview and progress in complex processes
  • Have knowledge of working with people in vulnerable positions and experience with citizen and user contact.
  • Are good at building relationships and trust among citizens, volunteers, partners and colleagues.
  • Thrive on taking the initiative and getting out of the house to meet people where they are.
  • Have an eye for the whole and can see opportunities across organizations, professional disciplines and efforts.
  • Are keen on both development tasks and the persistent coordination and operational work that helps make the initiatives succeed in practice.

We offer

  • An unique opportunity to make your mark on two important areas of development.
  • A position with a lot of freedom, broad contact surface and opportunity to create concrete results.
  • A strong cross-disciplinary collaboration with engaged colleagues and partners.<
  • A workplace where development, quality and relationships go hand in hand.
  • Opportunities for competence development and participation in relevant networks and professional communities.

Salary and employment terms Salary and employment terms are according to the current collective agreement.

Application The application deadline is 9 November 2026. The first interviews are expected to be held on 12 and 13 November and a possible second interview will be held on 23 November.
