About the job

Museum Skanderborg is in rapid development, and now Perron1 at Skanderborg Station is opening. We are therefore looking for museum attendants for Perron1's new cafe and museum shop in the museum's Cultural Waiting Hall to manage the daily operation and provide the museum's guests with a good experience with a strong focus on quality. At Perron1 we offer a simple but quality-determined product range and high-end service in a new unique museum.

Would you like to work in the heart of living history, introduce visitors to the museum experience and help give our guests a good break in the cafe, then the job as a host might be something for you?

The position as a host requires both independence and a good understanding of being part of the museum and a steady hand able to handle the many different visitors that a new museum also attracts.

Responsibilities and tasks

  • Take on hosting for both cafe/shop and for the entire museum.
  • Sales of coffee and light snacks.
  • Sales, gift wrapping and guidance on the museum's shop items.
  • Ongoing light clearing, replenishment and washing up.
  • Introduce to experiences in the museum and perform smaller interpretive tasks.
  • Prepare, develop and run events in the building in both day and evening hours for both museum guests, business guests, annual pass holders, volunteers, VIP guests, etc.
  • Help develop the quality of daily procedures.

We imagine that you…

  • Have knowledge of and experience with cafe operations.
  • Are cheerful and have a sense for both order and good hygiene in the cafe.
  • Have good guest understanding and can service the museum's guests at eye level.
  • Can thrive and take responsibility in both busy and quiet periods.
  • Have good financial understanding.
  • Want to engage in meaningful interpretation work.
  • Can take on a professional hosting role for a quality-conscious cultural institution.

Your personality and experience are more important to us than your formal background. We provide training, and ensure you gain a good understanding of the museum so you feel secure in the role as a face out to the many different guests.

Working hours

The positions are part-time. Hours will be agreed upon, but lie between 20 and 30 hours. Weekend and evening work can be expected, as the museum is open every day.

The positions are expected to be filled from 16 November 2026.

Workplace

You will work at Perron1 at Skanderborg Station, Jernbanevej 9, but by agreement there may be tasks at other Museum Skanderborg locations.

About Museum Skanderborg

Museum Skanderborg houses five museum departments and a city archive with five local archives. The museum preserves the cultural heritage of Skanderborg Municipality. We guard the history; we collect, register, preserve and research history and communicate it to the municipality's residents and other visitors.

The overall narrative at Museum Skanderborg is the sum of the permanent exhibitions and archives distributed across the various departments.

There are about 35 employees corresponding to 22 full-time equivalents. There are about 200 volunteers on contract, and the nine associated friends' associations have more than 1,500 members in total.
