About the job

Do you want to work with HR in an organization where the tasks range from HR advisory and support to the development of new initiatives? Do you want to take responsibility for projects with real impact on the Defence's build-up and contribute to an HR agreement initiative focusing on young employees in the Defence?

Then you might be our new colleague in a fixed-term temporary position.

About us

You are part of the HR partner element at the Defence Staff, which consists of seven employees. We are organizationally linked to the Personnel Command's Center for Careers and HR Advisory in Ballerup, but our daily work is carried out from Holmens Kanal 9 in Copenhagen and Flyvestation Karup.

We are part of a larger section, which also includes four employees who support and work for the Defence Academy in Østerbro. This position is, as a rule, located at Holmens Kanal or Karup.

In the HR partner element we handle classic HR partner tasks and provide HR advisory and support to the Defence Staff's top management, managers and employees. In addition, we actively work to develop dialog-based career plans and create long-term career paths that benefit both the employees and the Defence Staff. We also have responsibility for running an HR agreement initiative with a focus on young employees employed within the entire ministerial area.

We are a team with an informal tone, where we prioritize community, flexibility and a good working environment. We have both military and civilian educational backgrounds and contribute with different professional perspectives and analytical viewpoints.

We emphasize that you quickly become part of the community, gain an overview of the tasks, and contribute to ensuring continuity in task execution during the temporary appointment.

About the position

We are looking for a dedicated and independent HR partner who has an interest in HR, enjoys coordinating and would like to contribute to creating an attractive workplace for young employees.

The position is divided into two primary areas of responsibility.

HR partner and advisory

  • You shall provide HR advisory and support to managers at the Defence Staff as well as prepare written products for meetings, presentations, case submissions and analyses.
  • You will also participate in the handling of the common tasks within the HR portfolio in close collaboration with your colleagues.
  • As an HR partner for the Defence Staff you will have the opportunity to support managers in an organization where the future of defence is planned, and where HR plays an important role in the development of the organization and its employees.

Project responsibility and coordination

  • The other part of the position consists of driving and maintaining an HR agreement initiative focusing on young employees in the Defence. The initiative aims to establish youth councils at authorities and commands within the ministerial area to strengthen employee involvement and contribute to creating an attractive workplace for everyone.
  • You will be responsible for coordinating activities, following up on progress and collaborating with relevant actors across the organization. It is therefore important that you can create structure, maintain an overview and ensure progress in the tasks.

As this is a temporary vacancy, you will also need to contribute to a good handover and documentation of tasks and processes so that the work can continue after the end of the appointment.

About you

We would like you to have a relevant education, for example cand.scient.soc., or several years of experience from a similar position. We place high value on professionalism and experience, and it is an advantage if you have previously worked with HR advisory and implemented HR initiatives – preferably in a politically governed organization.

In addition, we expect that you

  • Have good communication skills and be able to express yourself clearly both verbally and in writing.
  • Work independently and be able to structure, prioritize and break down tasks.
  • Thrives in a daily routine where tasks and priorities can change quickly.
  • Have experience in initiating and driving smaller projects with many involved actors.
  • Are good at building relationships and collaborating across disciplines and organizational levels.
  • Have a constructive approach to tasks and actively contribute to a positive and engaged working environment.
  • Are prepared to help colleagues when needed and to join the team’s sense of community.

We expect you to take responsibility for your tasks while using the team and your manager for sparring when relevant.

It is not a prerequisite that you have knowledge of the Danish Defence’s family of organizations, but it is an advantage. In return, we expect you to be proactive, eager to quickly get to know the organization and able to contribute to task solving from the start of employment.

Terms of employment

If you are an academic, you will be employed in accordance with the applicable agreement between the Ministry of Finance and a number of academic organizations for academics in the state (Academic Agreement).

If you have an office education or another relevant education, you will be employed in accordance with the applicable Common Agreement between the Ministry of Finance and Public Employees Organizations – The Public Sector (OAO-S Common Agreement) and the organizational agreement for office clerks, laboratorians and IT workers.

The appointment is in a fixed-term position from December 1, 2026 to December 31, 2027.

Depending on your qualifications and competencies there is a possibility of negotiating an allowance. There is an employer-funded pension scheme tied to the position.

The workplace is Copenhagen or Karup. Expect a couple of days per month at other Defence service locations.

As an employee within the Ministry of Defence’s area you are subject to special conditions. You must, among other things, be security cleared and maintain the security clearance throughout the employment period.

You have an obligation as an employee to perform duties outside the country’s borders, including at units in international operations with a view to participation in conflict prevention, peacekeeping, peacebuilding, humanitarian and other similar operations.
