About the job

I am a life-loving and chatty man of 31, living in Svenstrup – currently together with my mother and our old cat.

I have muscular dystrophy (Duchenne muscular dystrophy) and sit in an electric wheelchair. This means that I need help with most things in daily life. My interests are broad. I enjoy, among other things, films, board games, cinema visits and concerts. In addition, I play Powerchair football twice a week and participate in tournaments around the country about once a month from August to May. In connection with the tournaments I have to stay overnight away from home.

As my helper, your tasks will include among other things

  • Assistance with personal care and transfers using a lift, for example to and from bed and the wheelchair.
  • Cooking and practical household tasks such as cleaning and laundry.
  • Accompanying to activities, concerts, cinema visits and much more.
  • Driving in my car, so a valid driving license (B) is a requirement.
  • Help at night when I need to be turned.

Good hygiene is important in the job because of my illness, and it is necessary that you can wake up and help me when there is a need for it at night. You will of course receive thorough training in all tasks and routines. You do not need to worry about whether you have experience with similar work. The most important thing is that you are willing to learn and to become part of my everyday life. I usually go on a car vacation once or twice a year and also attend concerts/festivals.

Therefore, it is an advantage if you are comfortable traveling and driving longer trips and can see yourself staying for longer periods.

I am looking for you, who

  • – Is about 25-50 years old, preferably male.
  • Has a valid driving license and is comfortable driving a larger car.
  • Finds it easy to wake up at night and can provide calm and caring help.
  • Is a non-smoker.
  • Is flexible and available to step in during illness.
  • Wants a close and trusting collaboration.
  • Has good situational awareness and is practically minded.
  • Is quick to learn and enjoys cooking.
  • Has a positive attitude and spirit.
  • Is diligent.

Shifts and working hours

The work consists of 24-hour shifts from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. the following day. The shifts are distributed over weekdays, weekends and holidays.

There are typically 5-6 shifts per month, corresponding to about 30-36 hours per week, with the possibility of extra hours in case of illness or vacation in the helper team.

It is important that you are prepared for a long-term employment of 3-5 years or longer.

Employment

Start is planned for mid-December.
