About the job

Do you want to help translate data strategy into concrete impact in the Defence and be where data has direct influence on our decisions and our ability to execute military operations?

The Defence and NATO are in the midst of a time-critical digital and operational transformation. Therefore, the Danish Defence Acquisition and Logistics Organization (FMI) is driving a group-wide digital transformation to deliver the digital foundation for the future of the armed forces. The Group-wide Data Strategy has just been approved and now it must be operationalized – step by step, in close cooperation with the business and with a starting point in the Defence’s operational needs.

We are therefore looking for two strategic implementation consultants for the Strategic Data and Governance section in the Data, IT and Governance Division.

About us

The Data, IT and Governance Division is at the core of the data-centric transformation of the Defence and works closely with authorities across the Defence, including the Defence Command and a number of professional areas.

With us you will meet high professionalism, short decision paths and an environment where quality, security and responsible use of technology are fundamental principles.

About the position

You will play a central role in the operationalization of the Group-wide Data Strategy. The section you will join facilitates the operationalization of the data strategy, and you will be a driving force in carrying out the implementation work and must collaborate closely with the section’s specialists, responsible for the data strategy’s focus areas and authorities across the Defence.

Your primary tasks will be to contribute to the iterative development and operationalization of the Group-wide Data Strategy, including to:

  • Facilitate implementation and anchoring of the data strategy’s focus areas in close collaboration with subject matter experts and the business.
  • Ensure coherence across the data strategy’s focus areas, including preparing and maintaining implementation plans and roadmaps.
  • Support selection, prioritization and scoping of operative use cases, which gradually increase in complexity as maturity rises.
  • Iteratively adapt the data strategy in close collaboration with subject matter experts and the business, so learning from use cases continually informs the strategy’s direction.
  • Prepare periodic reporting on the progress of the operationalization of the data strategy.
  • Prepare communication materials that support the necessary change management effort.

The role requires that you can garner support for the strategy among leadership across the Defence in the group and the units and staffs that will participate in the implementation.

About you

You have several years of experience with strategy and change work, preferably within data or digitalisation, and you thrive in the spectrum between strategy and implementation. You know that a strategy only creates value when it is anchored in the business, and you want to work with data as a strategic resource in a defence context.

We place emphasis on your having

  • A relevant higher education and experience with strategy development, strategy implementation or business development, e.g. from a consulting firm, a strategy unit or a larger public or private organization.
  • Experience in facilitating processes and workshops with many stakeholders and translating decisions into concrete plans, roadmaps and deliverables.
  • Analytical and structured work approach and ability to create overview and coherence across many simultaneous initiatives.
  • Experience with change management and driving tasks across a complex organization, as well as a natural ability to build strong relationships.
  • Strong communicative skills in writing and speaking, so you can convey complex topics clearly to leadership as well as operational and technical profiles.
  • Insight into how data creates value in an organization, e.g. through data governance, data quality or data-driven decisions, as well as curiosity and willingness to learn within a field that is rapidly evolving.

It is an advantage if you also have

  • Practical experience with developing or implementing strategies and driving business development.
  • Experience with portfolio management, governance models and reporting to management fora.
  • Experience from the Defence Ministry’s group, a NATO context or a military operational background.

We offer

  • A central role in the implementation of the Group-wide Data Strategy
  • Opportunity to work closely with leadership, operational environments and subject matter experts and see the strategy make a concrete difference.
  • A professionally strong environment in a division with high strategic importance and close collaboration between civilian and military employees.
  • An important professional role in the Strategic Data and Governance section with great influence over your own tasks and concrete deliverables.

Employment terms

If you are an academic, you will be employed under the then-current collective agreement between the Ministry of Finance and a number of academic organizations for academics in the state (Academic Agreement).

If you have an office education or another relevant education, you will be employed under the then-current Common Agreement between the Ministry of Finance and Public Employees Organisations – The Public Sector (OAO-S Common Agreement) and the organizational agreement for office clerks, laboratory technicians and IT employees.

Depending on your qualifications and competencies, there is a possibility for negotiating allowances. There is an employer-financed pension scheme attached to the position.

The workplace is in Ballerup.

As an employee under the Ministry of Defence, you are subject to certain special terms. You must, among other things, be able to obtain, and maintain, security clearance throughout the employment period.

As an employee you are obliged to perform service outside the country’s borders, including at units in international operations with a view to participating in conflict prevention, peacekeeping, peace-enforcing, humanitarian and other similar operations.
