About the job
We are expanding to 8 intensive care beds - would you like to help give the new nurses the best start in the Neonatal Intensive Care H5?
We are seeking an engaged nurse who is passionate about learning, development and good collegiality – and who wants to make a difference for our new colleagues.
The position is essentially 37 hours per week with start on 1 November 2026 or by agreement.
You will play a central role in creating safe and professionally strong frameworks for our newly employed nurses as they establish themselves in an exciting, complex and specialized area.
This is a role for someone who both loves clinical work and is eager to see others develop professionally.
As an introductory and training nurse you will be the consistent person for the newly employed nurses in their first period at H5. You will help ensure that they experience a structured, individually tailored and safe introduction, where there is room for questions, reflection and development.
You will, among other things, be responsible for
- Plan and coordinate individual introduction and training courses.
- Tailor the training to the individual nurse's experience and learning needs.
- Closely follow each nurse's competence development and ensure ongoing evaluation.
- Be a close professional sparring partner in everyday work.
- Support reflection, learning and development in practice.
- Facilitate follow-up and evaluation conversations.
- Plan and coordinate the department's formal teaching.
- Contribute to the development and evaluation of our introduction and training program.
- Collaborate with the clinical nurse specialist and department leadership on the quality of the training.
- Conduct supervision for the new nurses
You will be clinically near, in uniform and a visible part of daily life on H5. This means that you can draw on your own clinical experience and be close to the situations where learning and development take place.
You will become an important person in the first months.
Starting as a new nurse in a neonatal intensive care specialty can be both exciting, challenging and overwhelming.
Therefore you get a special role in creating safety, trust and psychological safety. We want our new colleagues to feel that there is always someone to go to – even when they are in doubt, need sparring or simply need to discuss a situation. You will be a role model, a support person and a professional sparring partner, while helping the new nurses become part of our community and culture.
And perhaps most importantly: You will have the opportunity to follow their development from the first day, when everything is new, to the day they stand more securely in their own professional role.
Who are we?
H5 is an intensive neonatal unit with seven beds. We treat extremely premature babies, critically ill newborns and children with abdominal surgical conditions.
We are about 50 committed nurses who together create a strong professional environment characterized by knowledge sharing, development and collaboration. With us, newly educated and very experienced colleagues work side by side, and we help each other develop – every day.
We work closely with doctors and other professional groups and operate from a family-centered approach, where parents are an active part of care. Our practice is inspired by NIDCAP principles, and we focus on both the child’s development and the family’s well-being.
The work involves high emotional demands. Therefore we also prioritize a working environment with care, openness and room for one another.
What do you get with us?
With us you get the opportunity to
- Make your mark on how we receive and train new nurses.
- Deepen yourself in learning, pedagogy and competence development.
- Become a central part of developing our learning environment.
- Work closely with engaged and professionally skilled colleagues.
- Combine the role with your clinical work and thus maintain your connection to practice.
- Develop your own competencies within guidance, supervision and pedagogy.
- Get a role where you can see the concrete difference you make for colleagues, patients and families.
Who are you?
We are looking for someone who
- Is a licensed nurse with a minimum of 2 years of clinical experience.
- Wants to work with learning, pedagogy and competence development.
- Is curious about how people learn and develop.
- Has good communication and relational skills.
- Is good at creating trust and safety around you.
- Can create structure and maintain an overview.
- Wants to be a role model – both professionally and personally.
- Thrives on collaboration and sees the value in lifting as a team.
If you have experience from neonatal or intensive specialization, it is an advantage. A relevant diploma, master or candidate degree is not a requirement, but we would like you to be interested in continuing your education and developing your competences in the field.
The most important for us is your motivation and your commitment to creating good learning processes and a strong learning environment.
About the position
The working hours are distributed with about 60% to the function in day shift and 40% to clinical work. The clinical work may be in day, evening and night shifts.
There will be 8-hour shifts every 3rd weekend as well as shifts on Sundays and holidays. In holiday periods there will be less time to cover the function.
You report to the head nurse at H5, and the work planning is done in collaboration with the head nurse and the duty planner.
If you have not previously worked with neonatal nursing, that should not deter you from applying. We offer a structured 8-week introduction program, where you have the opportunity to build the basic competencies and become familiar with the neonatal specialty.
Want to join?
If you can see yourself in a role where you both use your clinical expertise, your curiosity and your relational skills to help others along, we would very much like to hear from you.
We look forward to meeting you and telling you more about the role, H5 and our community.
