Structural Engineer – industrial chimney solutions

For a client we are seeking a structural engineer who can take a central technical role in the work with industrial chimney solutions for customers in the energy and industrial sectors.

The position and your tasks

You will become a central technical resource in the projects and will take on a role that ranges from the initial dialogue with the customer to calculation, dimensioning and technical documentation of the chosen solution.

Part of the work involves dialogue with the customers. Here you will help identify needs and clarify the technical requirements for, for example, dimensions, loads, materials, temperature conditions and other factors that affect the specific chimney solution. You must be able to ask the relevant technical questions and translate the customer's requirements into a solution that is both structurally correct and practical.

Based on the specification, you will continue with dimensioning and the necessary structural calculations. This may include calculations related to wind load, strength, stability and other influences on the construction, as well as preparation of the corresponding technical documentation.

3D design and drawings will continue to be a part of the projects, but the role is not intended as a classic CAD or draftsman position. The emphasis is on technical understanding, the calculations, and the ability to define and qualify the right solution together with the customer.

Your tasks will include, among others

• Dimensioning and structural calculations for industrial chimneys and related constructions
• Technical dialogue with customers and clarification of specifications
• Calculations related to wind load, strength and stability
• Preparation and quality assurance of technical documentation
• Participation in tendering for new projects
• Technical sparring internally and externally through the different project phases
• Contributing to construction and drawing material where relevant.

Since you will become part of a smaller organization, there will naturally also be tasks that lie outside the classic engineering discipline. It is therefore important that you enjoy variety, are flexible in your approach and are willing to tackle the technical problems that arise along the way.

Who are you?

You are educated as an engineer within construction, building, mechanics or a related technical field and have a solid understanding of statics, dimensioning and calculation of structures. The crucial thing is that you can work independently with structural calculations and at the same time are keen to use your expertise in dialogue with customers. You must be able to understand the customer’s problem, ask the right questions and translate a specification into a technical solution.

Experience with industrial chimneys will be highly relevant, and the company is very interested in candidates who have already worked in the area. Experience with, for example, steel constructions, masts, towers or other tall constructions can also be a relevant background.

You work independently and in a structured manner, but at the same time you must be approachable and communicative, as you will have direct contact with customers and partners. The position also requires that you master Danish and English fluently in speech and writing.
