Kildebakken is looking for a teacher who wants to become part of our community.

Kildebakken is a comprehensive (all-round) special school with a strong focus on learning, well-being, communities, and parental collaboration. Kildebakken is a special folkeskole (primary and lower secondary school) and after-school care for children and young people from 0th to 10th grade, all of whom require a special education provision and a special pedagogical leisure-time offer. This school year, there are currently 85 children at the school. The after-school program is open until 16:00 on all school days as well as during all school holidays.

All learning starts from each child’s prerequisites and needs, while also ensuring they experience being part of a community. Kildebakken is a school for children and young people with extensive physical and/or mental challenges and general learning difficulties, whose development requires special understanding, consideration, and support.

Kildebakken is characterized by close parent collaboration and works purposefully to involve the perspectives of parents and students, as this has great importance for the children’s learning and further education.

We prioritise cross-disciplinary collaboration

The school staff consists of about 60 employees. The school and the after-school program operate as a single package, and the staff collaborate in cross-disciplinary self-managing teams that function as professional learning communities.

Kildebakken’s staff, in addition to the school leadership and secretary, consists of trained teachers and pedagogues, as well as physiotherapists and occupational therapists, all with specialist knowledge and pedagogical competencies. The positions are full-time, as all staff at Kildebakken are employed full-time, as we prioritise time for collaboration and professional development.

Both teachers and pedagogues have set aside time for preparation and cross-disciplinary collaboration, which is essential to solve the core task. Some of the prioritized efforts include: Co-teaching, team collaboration, and Professional Learning Communities.

As a teacher you will have instructional responsibility for a smaller group of children, and all work with the children takes place in close collaboration between teachers and pedagogues. The teaching is based on the children’s motivation, resources and needs, and adapted to each child’s functional level.

• That you are a trained teacher and would like to work with children and young people with learning difficulties
• That you have an affirming and resource-oriented view of children and are capable of building relationships.
• That you master the teacher’s core tasks; including creating a good learning environment, working with structure, classroom management, setting goals, and collaborating with parents and professional staff
• That you are stable, tolerant, flexible, have a calm temperament and a good mood
• That you have ideas for activities for the children and the ability to function as a clear role model.
• That you are well-formed in writing.

In the public schools in the Bornholm Regional Municipality, the learning platform "EasyIQ" is used and the communication platform "Aula". All students at Kildebakken have an iPad provided, and the staff have a computer.
