About the job

Are you passionate about giving students fantastic learning experiences? At Tagensbo School we are currently looking for a skilled and imaginative Danish teacher for our early learning environment (grades 1-5). You have a major in Danish, but beyond that there are no requirements for a major. In the first instance, we are looking for a person who we can see fits in at our school and in our staff group.

Over the last two school years we have undertaken an exciting initiative where we take the students who struggle the most with learning to read and write across 1st grade to an intensive program, where teaching takes place in small groups based on the LØFT material. This speaks to our belief that an early and systematic intervention with these students matters and that it shifts the children’s ability to participate in the standard curriculum as they progress through their school career.

In addition, we work with a systematic reading group, where in 1st and 2nd grades students experience a reading teacher from another year group joining Danish teaching for two lessons per week, so the class teacher, reading teacher and class pedagogue can work with small reading groups. In 3rd grade the reading teacher disappears, so the class teacher and the class pedagogue continue reading groups alone.

Additionally, we believe success is best achieved in a community. This also applies to our staff, so we have joint planning every Tuesday from 14:00-16:00. Here you meet once a month with all Danish teachers in the Early Learning Environment with a guided agenda and the three other Tuesdays with your Danish colleagues in the year group. Here you plan teaching collaboratively and delegate tasks among yourselves to help plan the programs that run for the year group.

If you are enthusiastic and capable of the above and you are a wonderful person who thrives with teamwork, plenty of development opportunities and close leadership, please send an application.

We are a development-oriented school/KKFO (after-school care) that is constantly focused on creating the best possible living conditions for the children. We believe that as professional adults we can make a difference—especially if we thrive when we go to work.

Our school has long been on a positive developmental path. This is largely due to our fantastic teachers and pedagogues. We are a school/KKFO focused on high professionalism, collaboration and differentiated teaching. But we are also a workplace

  • where you never face a challenge alone
  • that highly values equal collaboration with your own and other professional groups
  • where we commit to being critically constructive in our approach to the school and to each other

Therefore we also have high employee satisfaction and low sickness absence.

In addition, we are both a food school and a school that practices outdoor learning. Our students are taught outside all day once a week, and the older students help prepare tasty, healthy school meals that teachers and students eat together every day.

We are seeking a new colleague who

  • is trained as a Danish teacher – the rest of the subject mix we build from the team’s overall competencies
  • thrives on developing themselves – in the coming school year we will consolidate our further education in language-developing Danish teaching and become wiser about Building Thinking Classrooms in Danish
  • incorporates language didactics into their teaching so all students are linguistically active during your lessons
  • thrives on teamwork
  • thrives with outdoor learning one day a week
  • can reflect and critically relate to their own and the team’s practices
  • can adapt teaching to students with different competencies
  • is ambitious
  • actively contributes to a good working environment
  • has humor and an appreciative approach to students, parents and colleagues

In addition to a fantastic working environment, we offer

  • a school that works purposefully with classroom management
  • a large, engaged colleagues group with many different competencies
  • joint planning in Danish and mathematics once a week (professional learning communities)
  • a school/KKFO focused on the relationship between child and adult
  • a school/KKFO where work is done in teams
  • a school with a close and equal collaboration between teachers and pedagogues
  • a very strong inclusion department that, together with you and your team, helps children in difficulty
  • a leadership team focused on development together with the staff and who know the students and the staff’s practices
  • lovely surroundings at a handsome school with modern facilities, such as smartboards in all classrooms, laptops, iPads, flex rooms and team rooms, etc.
  • a mentoring program for new employees
