About the job

Social and Health

Do you want to work closely with citizens and ensure that their voice has real influence in shaping the social effort?

One of our permanent social workers is going on maternity leave. Therefore we are seeking a social worker for a fixed-term maternity leave vacancy with start on January 1, 2027 and expected employment until October 31, 2027 . The duration of the vacancy may change depending on the permanent employee's maternity leave.

At Skovvang we meet people experiencing homelessness, mental health vulnerability, substance misuse issues, dual diagnoses and other complex social challenges. The assignment requires social-work expertise, curiosity and the ability to create direction in processes where solutions are not always simple or follow a straight path.

The citizen's voice is the starting point

At Skovvang people have the right to live the life they choose – also when their choices differ from our own. The citizen is an expert in their own life and should feel heard, understood and actively involved in the decisions that concern their daily life and future.

As a social worker you must be able to translate the citizen's perspective into concrete goals and actions. You must also be able to balance self-determination with social-work judgments, legal frameworks and the need for support. This requires that you can be both listening, clear and persistent – even when the citizen's situation is complex.

We work based on Housing First , where having one's own housing is seen as a fundamental right and as the foundation for working on other challenges. Our practice is also inspired by recovery-oriented rehabilitation, Traumebevidst Tilgang (TBT) (Trauma‑informed Approach), cognitive methods as well as an appreciative and relationship-based approach.

Your tasks

As a social worker at Skovvang you work closely with the citizens and their daily lives. You will have a central role in creating coherence and progress in each citizen's journey – from the initial contact and intake until the citizen is ready to move on to their own housing or to another relevant offering.

Your tasks will include

  • To conduct conversations with citizens about their current situation, wishes, resources, support needs and goals for the future.
  • To carry out social-work assessments, provide guidance, follow-up and documentation.
  • To work with VUM and ensure that the citizen's perspective is clearly reflected in assessments, goals and agreements.
  • To carry out tasks related to admission to and discharge under the Social Services Act § 110.
  • To follow up on citizens' stays and, together with the citizen, work toward a relevant and sustainable housing solution.
  • To support the citizen in contact with, among others, authorities, housing organizations, benefits department, job center and other relevant partners.
  • To coordinate the transition from a temporary stay to the citizen's own housing and ensure that the necessary support is planned from the start.
  • To prepare social-work descriptions, functional ability descriptions and other relevant documentation.
  • To collect and compile relevant information so that a holistic picture of the citizen's situation can be created.
  • To plan and participate in network meetings, discharge meetings and multidisciplinary meetings.
  • To collaborate with, among others, authorities' advisors, housing support services, psychiatry, general practitioners, substance abuse treatment, the job center and external municipalities.
  • To contribute with social-work perspectives and sparring to colleagues in complex citizen pathways.
  • To help ensure coherence between the citizen's wishes, the social-work intervention and the legal framework.

You must be able to maintain direction in a pathway, even when the citizen's situation changes, or when many actors are involved. At the same time you must be able to be proactive and establish contact with citizens who do not always seek help themselves or have the capacity to keep appointments.

Experience from the public sector is an advantage, as you need to navigate safely in social legislation and understand the connection between authorities, operations and the citizen's concrete life situation.

We emphasize that you

  • Are trained as a social worker and have sound professional judgment.
  • Have knowledge of the specialized social field and relevant social legislation.
  • Can work systematically and independently with documentation and follow-up.
  • Meet people respectfully and can maintain the citizen's perspective in multidisciplinary collaboration.
  • Can create an overview and direction in complex and sometimes unpredictable pathways.
  • Can work proactively, persistently and flexibly.
  • Communicate clearly and can stand firm professionally when the situation requires.
  • Can collaborate with many different professional groups, authorities and external actors.
  • Actively contribute to the collaboration with openness, integrity and humor.

With us you get

You will become part of a workplace with high professionalism, close collaboration and short paths from professional reflection to action. We have a good and respectful tone of voice, a good working environment and room for humor in daily life. We prioritise professional sparring and consciously work with an open feedback culture where we can speak directly and properly to each other.

There is room here for different perspectives – and a shared expectation that we help each other succeed for the citizens. We emphasise that it should be professionally developing and pleasant to come to work.
