About the job
Svendborg obstetric and maternity ward seeking new midwife colleagues!
Do you want a sustainable midwifery career with time for a good birth process and a focus on your core competencies? Then this position is for you!
The birth and maternity ward is seeking a number of midwives for both temporary and permanent positions from 1.12.26. We need midwives on the delivery ward who are primarily on the delivery ward, but we also need at least one midwife who will work half of her time on the delivery ward and half on the maternity ward. Since we are a single unit, everyone must be able to help each other across units. That means that shifts on the maternity ward may also occur for midwives who are primarily on the delivery ward.
What can we offer you?
- An department that is committed to being the birthplace for pregnant families, with a focus on well-planned individual maternity care and birth experience
- Midwife work with opportunities for diverse tasks
- Focus on professional development, including scheduled team training and skill training
- A good multidisciplinary working environment where openness, respect and professionalism are highly prioritized.
What do we expect of you?
- That you actively contribute to strengthening a good and healthy working environment
- That you thrive in both working independently and in teams
- That you are passionate about helping develop our small birthplace
- That you embrace flexibility in tasks
At Svendborg delivery ward we have staff of all ages and we believe you can have a long and good midwifery life when you have variation in the tasks you undertake.
Because we are a smaller department, the tasks and workload vary, and you will therefore work with pregnant, delivering and postpartum women. The interdisciplinary collaboration across professions is welcoming and helpful.
We work both fixed shifts and on-call shifts, and there are always two midwives in the department if there is a birth in the house. We also strive to always have two midwives at the delivery bed during labour.
As a department we offer a good introduction program so you have a secure start. We focus on a good start whether you are newly trained or experienced. We also offer certification in STAN/safe birth.
Our obstetric department in Svendborg
The obstetric department in Svendborg consists of two units; the delivery ward and the maternity ward. We are an interdisciplinary staff group consisting of midwives, nurses and doctors. In addition, we are a training site for midwifery students on 1st and 2nd semester, just as younger doctors in the department work and are trained with us.
We are a small specialty department with dedicated and competent staff, and we handle about 900 of the region's births annually.
Because we do not have a pediatric department on site, we primarily handle uncomplicated births, and we place a strong emphasis on preserving the normal birth – for both first-time and multiparous mothers.
Physically we consist of a delivery ward with four delivery rooms and a maternity ward with space for five admitted postpartum families. All our delivery rooms have been converted into sensory rooms. The maternity ward also has an outpatient function and takes care of the maternity telephone for the whole Funen. We have midwife consultations spread over South Funen and on Langeland. We are part of OUH, Odense, and therefore have close collaboration across our campuses.
The department management consists of Chief Consultant, Morten Lebech, and Deputy Chief Midwife Julie Ribe Bagge.
