About the job

Would you like to help ensure an efficient waste collection for the citizens and businesses of Copenhagen? Do you have knowledge of, or interest in, the connection between construction projects, renovation, traffic and daily operations?

So we are currently seeking an employee for the Waste- and Recycling Infrastructure Unit.

You will play a central role in the operation of waste collection in the City of Copenhagen to ensure that the municipality's roads, waste solutions and traffic conditions function in practice. You will work closely with day-to-day life in the city and be in direct dialogue with, among others, operations managers, waste management companies, contractors, utility owners, citizens and business operators. Here you function as the entry point to the municipality and help find good solutions when access routes to daily waste collection are blocked or impassable.

An important part of your responsibility is to create overview, ensure timely information and coordinate solutions, so challenges on access routes are addressed before they create issues for daily operations and citizens' everyday lives.

Your tasks will include, among other things

  • Coordination with external actors and ARC before, during and after construction works in the city.
  • Handling of acute operational problems that arise at work sites.
  • Coordination of, among other things, pharmacy arrangements, syringe collection and establishment of fix rooms.
  • Inspections and collaboration with dispatchers from, among others, ARC

Your profile

You may have a technical or social science educational background – or something completely different. Practical experience with the waste sector, and/or traffic conditions is a plus. Additionally, it is an advantage if you have experience with citizen contact or customer service.

You are motivated by helping citizens and businesses progress to the right solution, and you focus on creating a professional, friendly and trustworthy dialogue. As the waste field is in continuous development, you will need to familiarize yourself with new initiatives and projects that can change your ways of working – therefore it is important that you are adaptable and curious about changes.

In addition, we value that you

  • can create an overview of the task across many actors and disciplines
  • enjoy coordination and have a view of the whole and a desire to create solutions that work in practice
  • can work in a structured manner and follow up on your tasks
  • have strong collaboration and communication skills
  • can handle both planned and urgent tasks
  • can work independently and at the same time involve relevant professionals when required
  • have an understanding of operations, safety, health and safety culture and citizens' experience.

We offer

  • a versatile function with a large amount of contact
  • a central role in daily operations
  • opportunity to influence and develop solutions and workflows in Copenhagen
  • close collaboration with internal and external actors
  • a varied everyday life with both planned and urgent tasks
  • opportunity for professional and organizational development
