About the job
Do you have a strong interest in surface water in cities? Do you want to help shape the future handling of surface water? Are you passionate about finding solutions that protect our water environment and ensure sustainable water management in urban development? Then you are the person we are looking for!
Climate change and urban development impose new requirements for how we handle rainwater and wastewater. In Hillerød we work purposefully to create solutions that take into account both nature and our growing city. As an environmental employee you will be a central actor in the work with connection, discharge and treatment of water for both large and small projects in collaboration with developers and Hillerød Forsyning.
With us you will be part of a strong professional environment, where we work with everything from environmental protection, wastewater, soil contamination, groundwater, waste and corporate supervision. We are looking for a colleague who wants to create results together with others and contribute to a greener future. Your tasks
- You develop plans for the management of rainwater and wastewater; including, for example, a new wastewater plant plan amendment regarding high groundwater.
- You work on the implementation of the wastewater plan in collaboration with Hillerød Forsyning.
- You join project groups for new local plans in relation to rainwater management and cloudburst protection, including quality-assuring the client’s water management plans and giving feedback on water management in new local plans.
- You participate in the wastewater team’s other tasks such as connection, infiltration and discharge permits with a focus on both legislation and technical data.
- You contribute to the work with environmental assessments of plans and projects. You work across disciplines and contribute your knowledge of water drainage to environmental assessments in connection with construction projects and urban development.
Your experiences, competencies and attributes
- You can communicate clearly and precisely in Danish; both orally and in writing. So your messages are understood by professionals, landowners, citizens, volunteers and interest organizations.
- You have a sense of good service and handle inquiries professionally, both by phone and in writing.
- You are good at gathering knowledge, creating an overview and applying your professionalism across the organization and in dialogue with external parties.
- You quickly learn new IT systems and it is an advantage if you can work with GIS.
- It is advantageous if you have experience with case handling within the Environmental Protection Act and the Environmental Assessment Act as well as the wastewater regulation.
- You thrive in a politically governed organization and may have experience in writing briefing notes for political processing.
- Your educational background may be engineering, biology or equivalent, so your skills and experience match the tasks.
Why you should choose us
- You will become part of a municipality that prioritizes environment, nature and climate highly.
- Your base will be in the Department of City and Environment, the Nature, Environment and Climate section, where you report to the section head Vibeke Meno.
- You will have great freedom to plan your daily work in collaboration with your colleagues.
- We have an informal and positive culture where we brainstorm on tasks, help each other and share plenty of laughter. You will have influence on task solving, and we work with a trust-based approach.
- We sit in a modern open-plan office at the town hall, focusing on well-being and work-life balance – including the possibility of home office 1-2 days per week, depending on the tasks.
- We offer good IT and meeting facilities as well as common areas for concentration.
- Knowledge sharing and cross-department collaboration are in focus. Hillerød Municipality offers one hour of exercise during working time per week. We prioritize activities that help strengthen the good sense of community.
