About the job
Network-building children and youth worker with coordinating function
Do you want to use your pedagogical expertise to create strong communities, new opportunities for participation, and improve life chances for children and young people?
Are you passionate about building relationships, opening doors, and helping children and young people into positive communities? Are you good at turning ideas into action and creating collaboration between young people, associations, schools, clubs and local actors? Then you may be our new network-building employee.
We are looking for a trained educator or an employee with another relevant education to the housing-social initiative in Frydenlund and Charlottehøj, who through positive communities, educational activities and targeted bridging to local leisure offers shall help strengthen the well-being, participation and life chances of children and young people. The network-building function is a central driving force in the work to create strong and inclusive children- and youth communities and to ensure that more children and young people find their way to positive networks and leisure communities.
About the job
As a network-building employee you will be a visible and active resource in the local area. You will work proactively and relationally among children and young people and help them move further into positive communities.
You will have particular responsibility for developing and driving initiatives within
Study cafe and learning communities
- Establish and develop a study cafe in collaboration with the Youth School Ungdomsskolen UngiAarhus.
- Recruit young people to the study cafe and create attractive and safe learning communities where young people support each other.
- Contribute to more young people completing education and strengthening their academic competencies.
Bridge-building to positive children- and youth communities
- Create contact between children and young people, local schools, local associations, clubs and leisure offerings (including supporting the local leisure job initiative).
- Strengthen participation of children and young people in positive communities and contribute to their social, cultural and democratic formation in close cooperation with local actors and communities.
- Support holiday and club activities for children and young people in close cooperation with the local association developer.
Coordinating function
- Strengthen the coherence between municipal, housing-social and local initiatives in the children- and youth area through relational coordination and close collaboration with children, young people, families and relevant actors. The function supports cross-sector collaborations, bridging and joint solutions that promote participation, well-being and positive communities for children and young people. You must be able to translate professional knowledge into practice in different contexts and be focused on what the pedagogical framework means for the children and young people and thereby strengthen cross-cutting initiatives.
- Support and coordinate the network-building initiative across Hasle, the water-tower area and Frydenlund. This happens through professional sparring, knowledge sharing, experience gathering and method development, so local experiences are translated into shared learning, strengthened practice and a more coherent effort across the area.
- Ensure dissemination of experiences, results and learning from the initiative to relevant professionals, cooperation forums and management levels.
Target group
The primary target group is children and young people aged 10-17 who are outside positive communities, as well as their parents. The initiative is carried out in close cooperation with the housing-social family coordinator, volunteer coordinator and housing-social porter with a view to creating holistic solutions around the whole family.
The secondary target group is young adults in the transition from youth to adult life. Here the focus is on bridging to relevant municipal offers within education, employment and guidance, so that the young people are supported in a positive transition to adult life.
We expect that you
- Have a pedagogical background, possibly with an advanced degree or another relevant educational background.
- Have experience with children and young people. Preferably in disadvantaged or diverse housing areas.
- Are strong in relationship work and motivational conversations.
- Can work proactively and make contact with young people who do not find their way to the communities.
- Have experience coordinating collaborations, knowledge gathering and developing initiatives across many actors.
- Are initiative-taking, independent and action-oriented.
We offer
- A meaningful position with great importance for the well-being and future of children and young people.
- Opportunity to shape and develop new initiatives.
- A strong professional community with housing-social work, associations and municipal actors in the local area in collaboration on initiatives for children and young people in the local area.
- High degree of freedom, responsibility and opportunity for professional development.
- A workplace close to the children and young people whom the initiative is designed for.
- Good colleagues who value professional discussions, collegial support and a relaxed and cheerful tone in daily life.
About the initiative
Many children and young people in the area are outside organized leisure communities and lack access to networks that can support education, life chances and well-being. As our upcoming colleague you will be a central driving force in the work to strengthen the participation of children and young people in positive communities. The position is 37 hours per week with main base in Frydenlund and ongoing task-solving and presence in Charlottehøj.
You will be responsible for developing, testing and implementing methods that mobilize children and young people to participate in meaningful communities. With great independence you will initiate, develop and coordinate collaborations across the local community and create coherence between the initiatives in the area
The position is organizationally anchored in UngiAarhus and is part of a shared leadership structure between the local pedagogical leader and the housing-social leader. Together they ensure the professional direction, sparring, coordination and anchoring of the initiative across municipal and housing-social collaborations. The day-to-day task management is handled by the housing-social leader based on ongoing discussions and priorities in a joint management team consisting of the housing-social leader and the local club’s pedagogical leader.
The position gives great freedom to put your own imprint on the work. We therefore seek an employee who thrives on taking initiative, working independently, developing new solutions and translating ideas into concrete activities and communities.
The work is based on the times when children and young people are free. Therefore you must be prepared for flexible working hours, including afternoons, on average two weekday evenings per week and activities during school holidays and weekends.

We offer a permanent position as a network-building employee, 37 hours/week. Salary and terms of employment will be in accordance with the applicable agreement with BUPL or another relevant agreement
Expected start date: January 1, 2027 or as agreed.
